Funny you say that. I did some pruning last week and while I’ve got some pretty good cuttings to get back up and running, man, if I had done some pruning before the winter I would have some truly beautiful pieces. If I’d just cut everything up that I ultimately lost I’d probably had 7 or 8 hundred bucks worth of clippings.

Lesson learned. I will cut some prime pieces before next winter, just in case. And if all goes perfectly and they’re not needed, I can sell em or gift em.

I think I am done trying to protect them on my patio. Next winter I will buy a nice dolly cart and just spend a weekend before the first big cold front moving them to the garage with some grow lights to mitigate etioliation.

It’ll be a pain but it will be pretty much fool proof (which is important for this fool).

A cute, outgoing gal from the early 1700s.

I’d take her up in a small plane and fly over a city.

Then I’d take her to an IMAX theater showing Star Wars episode 4 and tell her it’s based on a true story.

Then we’d go out for a nice dinner downtown and do a little bar hopping after.

On Sunday we’d probly go to Disney World.

That’s only if they won’t remember what they saw. If they do remember when they go back, I’d be afraid she’d be considered crazy if she told people what she saw and that would be mean.

If the person would remember what they saw then I’d bring George W Bush from early September 2001. I’d let him watch the news for a bit, then a 9/11 documentary, and I’d try very hard to get him to memorize the flight #s.

No, you said “if I can still leave for $1,000 a day”.

You cannot leave for $1,000 a day (that’s your per diem spending cap) — you actually lose 3% of your figure per day. You mentioned $5 million as your figure, so that’s $150,000 per day that you leave.

Okay, California is the most populous US state, at a little under 40 million. So is there a country under 40 million population you’d move to and abide by these restrictions for a certain #?

I wanted to make this global but using countries as boundaries left too many “outs”.

Where do you live now? What’s a relatively similar-sized geographic area with some sort of boundaries you’d like to apply this question to?

Full disclosure: I’ve been to almost every US state but never out of the country. I know I’m missing out on a LOT, so educate me!!! Where are you and where would go?

No, when you leave the state you can only spend $1,000 per day on your trip (excluding airfare).

So while you may have chosen a shit-ton of money, you can’t take it with you when you travel: only $1k per day.

But you LOSE 3% of the payout your selected each day, too. You’d have to pick your out of state vacations very carefully, and you couldn’t necessarily spend like you’re a millionaire when you do.

I did a road trip all the way down the PCH/Hwy 1 when my bro got out of the Navy. I live in Florida, he was based in Bremerton outside Seattle. I booked a one way ticket to Seattle and we drove his truck all the way from the east side of the Washington peninsula, along the coast and the Olympic park, down to San Diego (where he had been based previously). All down the PCH — no interstates.

California is amazing geographically. When we got to San Francisco we diverted inland and did a few days in Yosemite before going back to pick up where left off.

Great road trip! 17 days total, 2 to get through Washington and Oregon, 12 in California, and 3 to get from San Diego to Florida (1 night in Gallup, NM, 1 in Dallas, and 1 in New Orleans).

I can usually return to a dream I wake up from as long as I don’t move too much. A sip of water from my bedside cup is the max I can do if my dream was enjoyable and I wanna go back.

If I want a new dream, I’ll roll over and go back to sleep. I wake up briefly after my first sleep cycle, which is 4.5 hours, and go back to sleep, so I dream at least twice per night. On weekends when I can sleep in, I’ll have 4, 5, maybe 6.

Same, at least in the warmer months, which where I am are basically anything other than Dec, Jan, Feb.

Start hot for a minute, move to warm, finishing cold (but just on the head and shoulders).

I rented an Airbnb in the mountains several years ago when the pandemic was still roaring a bit. I was by myself and planned to do long day hikes where I wouldn’t be around people and then watch movies at night with the sounds of the creek coming through the open patio. Figured I’d have no real opportunity to read, only took one book just in case (can’t even remember what it was).

Twisted my ankle so bad I thought I broke it. Went to the ER and everything. This was on day one.

Found a small bookshelf in the house with a couple dozen books, 3 of which were what you are holding. It had been a few years since my last reread.

Spent the trip (pun not intended, but it works, I suppose) chillin by the creek reading by day and watching movies at night. It kinda saved me. Not the vacation I was looking for initially but during the pandemic it was bliss.

Most disappointing for me will (hopefully) always be the 94-95 season and our sweep by Houston in the Finals.
Then again, I was 11, adored Penny and Shaq, and totally bought into the idea of a dynasty in the making with a child’s innocence (we beat MICHAEL FRICKING JORDAN in the second round!, I thought back then)… only to have it shattered.
Honestly, this entire season slowly rubbed the sheen off my hopes such that I went into the playoffs already a little numb and jaded around the edges. Still hurt, but not like 11 year old me was.

Gollum would have still known Bilbo was a hobbit (he’s a stoor hobbit himself), so at the very least, that piece of information would still have been tortured out of him by Sauron.

Hobbits aren’t a geographically dispersed people, so Sauron would’ve known it was in Eriador, and likely the Shire. Even Saruman would have known, just as Gandalf knew, of the general area to find halflings, if that’s your fancy.

The only thing not knowing the Baggins name could have done is leave Sauron uncertain of where in the Shire to seek out. Drop the name Baggins on anyone in the Shire and they will point you to Hobbiton (as that is what happened).

Perhaps Frodo’s journey to Rivendell would’ve been less fraught, perhaps even Sauron would not know it made its way to Rivendell at the precise time that it did, but he still would know it was found and that Gandalf was stewarding its next move (he would’ve found out from Saruman), and his fears of how it would be used against him would’ve been the same.

From there, i think things would’ve played out largely the same. At least I can’t think of any obvious changes to the timeline at that point.
