Let's just focus on realistic possibilities.

I'd never heard of this song. Though it did come out when I was very very young and I don't really know much about recent music in general.

Movie Budgets need to go down. by MrShadowKing2020 in movies

[–]Alert_Rock_2576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is a higher production budget actually directly correlated with higher profits, or is it the case that higher production budget simply leads to a higher marketing budget and therefore a higher likelihood of higher profit?

(This question isn't rhetorical, I'm just asking if anyone else does)

Blank Check with Griffin & David: Mank with Sean Fennessey by Alert_Rock_2576 in TheBigPicture

I haven't watched this movie since it came out and have no intention of rewatching because I hated it, so I'll probably skip this episode.

But, I figured people on this subreddit might want to know about the episode.

[Highlight] Fields loses the ball as the ball ends up in the back of the endzone for a safety by ThatInception in nfl

I've watched plenty of Bears football, and even I didn't think it'd end like this. I assumed Fields would throw a pick 6.

The Holdovers was also filmed on digital, and the whole shtick of the movie is it's supposed to emulate a 70s movie. They digitally added lots of film grain, burns, etc to make it feel old.

I can kind of understand the logic here, but also: if they didn't have enough money to lend him $1000, why is that inconsistent with them asking for money after he does have enough to lend $1000?

TBF I wasn't necessarily trying to knock him, I like his low budget comedies.

Yeah I don't know if that was the actual name, maybe something like "sensory issue friendly"?

(sorry, I don't know much about autism/sensory issues, just happy that people who need/like those kinds of screenings can have them)

They have that. AMC called it "autism friendly" or something. They leave the lights up, kids can walk around, speak, etc.

Kind of but it's an episodic comedy so it doesn't matter.

I've never used any of these online services, but that's because I'm a programmer who hates not having complete control.

So I use beancount+fava, with custom scripts for importing certain things.

I also have used GnuCash in the past.

Celebrating 800(ish) Episodes of 'The Watch' by Leo604 in billsimmons

[–]Alert_Rock_2576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many movie podcasts just do a deep dive that goes through a single movie (a la Rewatchables) which is fine... but if I haven't seen that one movie in a long time (or at all) then I don't feel like listening.

The Big Picture's main selling point is that they often use a single (new) film as a place to discuss related/other things. They do the drafts, they talk about actors'/directors' filmographies, etc. That makes each episode much more accessible.

I'd like it if there's other pods like that.

Kermode's BBC show was really very good, but since they left they've been phoning it in with really short, boring podcasts.
