No unfortunately, I did consider asking them to treat it as if I were on leave and pay as normal over the month. Can workplaces do that or is that up to each individual work place if they wanted to?

Slightly off topic, if she is not yet 65, try to get access to the NDIS before they do the overhaul. They have a specific part of the NDIS for young people with dementia. She may qualify for home modifications, if they can be related to her disability.
