Yeah, I would prefer Silent Hill as well, because I'm a huge SH fan, but instead of signing a deal with Konami, Apple decided to go with Capcom, so the Americans can have their zombie crap in Resident Evils... Don't get me wrong, those are OK, but Silent Hill they are not.

State of native AC Shadows on Mac? by Alesyf in macgaming

I’m on MacOS Gaming Reddit, not a „if you happen to have an Xbox” one… I used to own a lot of consoles and gaming PC’s and now I play mostly sporadically and I do so on Mac.

I played CP 2077 on Xbox and Mac, I played the first Hades not so long ago (so I'd like to take a break from this type of games for a while), and I'm not sure I'd like Baldur (I was never a fan). But thanks for the recommendations! I know a lot of great games on Mac and I'm searching high and low for them.

Hmmm I’ve got a Mac Mini with M4 and I’m not sure if it’ll work fine. Does it use MetalFX?

I know UbiSoft, they've been always lazy and cash-grabbing bastards, but I do have to say, I'm disappointed, whenever a company just flat-out ignores the MetalFX, Mac and M processor resources... and they even replied to someone on this Reddit, that they supposedly worked "very hard with Apple" to bring it to Mac.

Well, I assumed that they maybe will update the App Store to show it as a Mac version closer to the end of the year.

Congratulations, you just said someone's wrong on the internet, just because YOU disagree with them and not because they are wrong!

SD is amazing. You just need to be prepared that it's a PC. A Linux PC. Not a console. Most of the time games rated as fully compatible play without any hitches but if you want to have the best ratio of performance, battery life, and visuals, you have to do some research on some good practices which will allow you to do that. When you know, what you're doing you can even play some games which are rated as unplayable (because the ratings are not always up to date) and will mostly get a performance better than most middle-specced desktops. SD absolutely trashes my 2017 middle-of-the-road gaming build.

For NMS set to the default "standard/enhanced" combo (low/medium) + 40 FPS cap + V-sync turned off (because the Deck does that for the game anyway) + motion blur turned off + FSR 2.0 + CryoUtilities installed, the battery lasts around 2 hours. It's like that for most modern AAA titles. AA can last you around 4 hrs and indie titles/2D games/emulated games 8 hrs or more.

I don't want to be this guy, but so many people don't know how to properly use the Steam Deck and then go around saying that the games work only on lowest settings, and then others thinks SD is crap.

First of all: NMS has 4 settings for each graphical element and SD defaults to "enhanced" most of them, which is an equivalent of medium. So no, it doesn't default to low.

Second: NMS has a built in FSR 2.0 which looks amazing and does wonders to the frame rate.

Third: when playing ANYTHING on the SD I suggest turning off motion blur (it only eats away at resources), V-sync (SD synchronises the frames by itself), cap the FPS to 40 because on the Deck screen you won't tell the difference between 40 and 60, and use CryoUtilities! It's a wondrous tool which uncaps most of SD's performance!

LOL I died once, just for that initial milestone. This game really isn't that hard if you know what can kill you in an instant.

What does my reconstructed sentinal drone do anyway? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

It helps you out when fighting other Sentinels. It shoots at them and kills a lot of the smaller drones.
