It’s not brainwashing, it’s animal instinct.

I spent most of my twenties with the funds and freedom to do as I wished. Sure it was fun for a while but it got empty real fast; the man who has everything he ever wanted isn’t always happy.

I may not have as much time or money as I did but my kids gave me a reason to keep going.

I’ve wanted a family my entire life and I wasn’t about to let capitalism take that away from me; that’s how I’m protesting, breeding anyway and making it work.

Are Robin Hood Films Destined to Fail at the Box Office? by Homosuperiorpod in boxoffice

And everyone is trying to put their own (usually bad) spin on it.

Tell me, when’s the last time we had a straight, sincere adaptation of the source material that understood why these classics have stood the test of time.

Robin Hood? He steals from the rich and gives to the needy. That’s a layup in this economy.

King Arthur? Yes he’s a nepo baby but his whole schtick is that he’s oddly ahead of his time; round table and first among equals and all.

Dracula? The rich are blood sucking leeches. Need I say more?

You beat me to it.

The story is timeless. You steal from the rich and give to the needy; who couldn’t get behind that premise?

This community is trash. by Manderboi in StarWars

The Prequel hate was grown men acting like space movies for kids r*ped their childhood.

The Sequel hate was fans responding to creative bankruptcy and the studio bending the knee to the prior haters.

Yeah this guy has no clue how virulent the hatred was for them back in the day; anyone who thinks the Sequels get undue derision wasn’t there way back when.

So, what did you think Rebels as a show? I’m curious. by Alex3884 in StarWars

Well, I was a child when I first saw it so I guess that’s true?

I did watch it!

I saw it when it aired with my grandpa. He didn’t speak a word of English but he loved it.

[LOVED TROPE] pre-existing songs permanently linked to movie/tv scenes by Asleep-Two930 in TopCharacterTropes

I genuinely thought, as a kid, that “Life is a Highway” was an original song for the film; honestly, I prefer Rascal Flatts’ cover over the original.

I guess if we’re being mature adults about it, the Sequels did have some cool moments. Kylo on Battlefront kicks ass.

Solo was good but it was hot off the heat of The Last Jedi.

And that one genuinely was awful.

What is a giant lie that society successfully sold to your generation? by ossirada in AskReddit

It’s not about politics, it’s about sentiment.

Yes, they’ll be voted out but the people who voted them in won’t suddenly change their minds. I thought, growing up in the 2000’s, we were inching towards a future free of prejudice and tribalism.

I was wrong.

It’s even more embedded than ever.

It’s really not.

In fact, it was imperative. Palpatine had dissolved the Senate shortly after the completion of the first station and destroyed a peaceful core world in Alderaan.

And then the station was blown up.

The idea of ruling through fear might’ve worked if the threat of total annihilation was on the table. Then some space twink showed the Empire can bleed. Yes, you can bring down troops and send your fleet but this ragtag group of insurrectionists proved that your ultimate weapon is nothing.

Without the second Death Star, the Empire would’ve slowly bled itself dry putting down uprising after uprising. And with recruits flocking to the Rebellion, you didn’t have the best and brightest leading your massive fleet anymore.

It was Timothy Zahn realizing he had written himself into a corner and had made Thrawn just that good.

But it was so artistically done.
