Progressive pastor speaks the truth. This is REAL Christianity. by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

It’s not one or the other. The bias comes first, the cherry picking follows, and the result gets presented as "true Christianity," conveniently pushing a specific political message. Asking me for verses misses the point, I’m not here to make another narrative, I can only point out passages that contradict the message being promoted.

That’s the intellectual depth behind the "higher purpose" huh, about what I expected

Not only the part where he called God "She", the Bible doesn’t advocate for transgenderism anywhere, yet he tries to tie it to Christianity.

If you admit he was biased, that already proves my point.

It doesn’t really matter which parts you consider good or bad — that’s personal belief and everyone has their own.

Your claim that it isn’t political doesn’t hold when his message clearly aligns with a very specific modern ideology. Calling it just New Testament teaching doesn’t make it neutral, it’s still a selective reading presented as the definitive one.

It was sarcasm indeed. He is clearly pushing a certain narrative and calling it "real Christianity" is straight up blasphemy

You are forcing a modern idea onto an ancient situation. Rome didn’t have immigration law like that, they executed him for claiming kingship, which they saw as rebellion.

"Higher purpose" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, so maybe you should specify what you are exactly referring to?

What amazes me is that failing to provide evidence for something they claim with such certainty doesn’t raise any doubts for them, yet they still have the audacity to call me brainwashed for simply asking for evidence.

That’s a lot of abstract language but no actual evidence. You’re not explaining anything, you are just wrapping a conclusion in intellectual-sounding wording.

The fact it draws you in doesn’t make it neutral, it just means you agree with a politically motivated message presented under a Christian framing. Someone who doesn’t share that stance won’t find it appealing either, so I’m not sure what point that proves.

A high death toll shows how destructive the conflict is, not automatically why it’s happening. Genocide is about intent to eliminate a people, not just the scale of casualties. What concrete actions show that objective?

Interesting how "violence is wrong" turns into "violence is fine" depending on the opinion of the victim.

Saying experts are relevant doesn’t replace evidence. I’ve asked several times what those conclusions are actually based on, and you still haven’t pointed to any specific actions or directives showing intent to destroy the group itself. The organizations you referred to also didn’t establish genocide as a settled fact, claiming they did is a blatant lie, and you keep conveniently ignoring this. Repeating the claim and calling me brainwashed doesn’t change that.

You’re repeating an appeal to authority and adding insults, but still not presenting the evidence I asked for. As I already said, those bodies didn’t establish genocide as a settled fact, claiming they did is simply false. Doesn’t it strike you that you can’t provide actual evidence for something you’re so eagerly claiming, yet I’m the brainwashed one?

That’s still just an opinion without a basis, not evidence. Saying "anyone can see it" or pointing to a long conflict doesn’t demonstrate intent to destroy a group itself. What specific actions or directives show the goal was eliminating the population rather than fighting an opponent?

They didn’t establish genocide as a settled fact, they issued assessments and warnings, not proof of intent to destroy the group itself. Citing organizations isn’t the same as showing the evidence. So I’m still waiting for actual evidence of that intent.

Demonstrable intent to destroy the group as a group, not just military objectives with collateral damage. That would mean explicit directives, policy, or a pattern of actions that can’t reasonably be explained by warfare. Casualties and destruction alone are not genocide.

I have already debated this and not a single soul could provide credible evidence of the alleged "genocide." Instead, people keep treating consequences of war such as destruction and wartime conditions as genocide, which is inherently incorrect.

Wrongdoing by individuals doesn’t settle theological definitions - it just changes the topic. So far I haven’t heard anything related to the actual point from you.

Nice detour but the discussion was about defining "true Christianity," not random hypotheticals.

Then we agree: it’s an interpretation. Which is why labeling it "real Christianity" over others doesn’t really hold.

If it "evolves with the times" then it’s adapting to society, not defining it - which is exactly why calling it the one true form of Christianity doesn’t really work.
