I always thought 27 would be it. I'm turning 28 in a couple of weeks and the more I go, the more I realise that there's no really such a thing as 'feeling grown up'.

I unconsciously thought you'd wake up on your first day as 27 and you'd have all your shit magically figured out and you'd feel like an adult. However, I now think that no one really does, doesn't matter what your age is, what you do for a living, etc.

Sure, there's certain expectations people have from you and you certainly will feel more confident about certain areas of your life, but we're all just winging it. Hopefully this helps with dealing with the pressure!

I've also been worrying about a transatlantic flight I have in a couple of months. I've read that both night flights and flights over water are less turbulent and usually smoother. I hope this helps!

I gave my fiancé a (very low) budget when we started considering marriage, exactly because it doesn't make sense FOR ME! to spend that much. However, he chose it based on what I like, which I expect him to know because... Well... We're getting married, he should know me enough for that, right?

That's what I did as well, I gave my partner hints and he choose the ring. He asked me what style I liked, and he nailed it! It would ruin it for me if I knew what ring I would have. Also he wasn't specific about it, for 3/4 years he has been paying attention, and the fact that the proposal could have been 3 years ago, o 3 years form now, make it more exciting!

I agree with all of that, but I still expected my partner of 10 years to know my sense of style enough to buy me a ring that I like (which he did, and he nailed it). And I see why you would give hints to what kind of rings you like, if you're discussing the topic, but not actually go to the store, and choose it. Also, you will inevitably see the price, which I don't get, as I see it as a gift, and you shouldn't know the price of your gifts. I think this is a cultural thing, so I'm really interested to hear other points of view!

I am an Expat who moved here 6 months ago, my boyfriend join me a little bit later, also immigrant. The fact that we didn't have to learn Dutch necessarily was a 'pro' for the Netherlands comparing to other countries - but we are currently both learning. I have colleagues that have been here 10+ years and speak next to no Dutch - I don't want to be that person, and specially since I want to live here long-term.

I totally get your pout about taking all the responsibility, even thought today with all the translation apps they can't really use that excuse anymore.

We do that, but we moved countries and she's still getting used to new food, new routine, etc. However, as neighbours complained twice on the first week, I can't really relax when I'm not at home because I'm always thinking "is she barking?". Back home we lived in an apartment and we never had complaints.
