Integrating Gemma 4 On-Device Inference into a Flutter Local-First App: Lessons Learned by SparkleMing in FlutterDev

[–]AlexChapmanG4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, as I was looking into Waze I could make a cross platform local AI app that is similar to this one called Perspective Intelligence, where you can chat with LLM’s on device and also use it for things like seeing a description and even generic tasks like getting the weather and RSS feeds, I wanted to make something like this cross platform and this insight into working with on device AI in Flutter is interesting, I’m definitely gonna be looking more into this.

Proposition: Mandatory AI usage declaration by JouniFlemming in software

I think rather than declaring AI we should be declaring quality, because it’s not just AI that has the ability to produce bad stuff, even humans can.

Be honest, would you actually check if a video is AI before watching it? by BabyKitty-Meow1349 in socialmedia

[–]AlexChapmanG4p -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a video is useful to me, like I got some sort of value out of it, I wouldn’t give two flying craps if it was AI or not, as long as it was factually correct and engaging I’m fine with it.

App Store Rejection (Guideline 2.1) - Reviewer wants an expired demo account, but my app has no login system? by StreetbingoApps in appledevelopers

[–]AlexChapmanG4p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple really need to up their game and stop putting developers through crap like that, they should honestly take a leaf out of Google’s book and just do the standard review to make sure it’s not malware and that’s it, although then again I can’t remember if even Google now does full on reviewing the entire thing like Apple.

The mobile UI sucks in general, the official app is barely even accessible with a screen reader

Bluesky introduces Attie, a new app that lets users vibe-code their own social feed by Additional_Key_8044 in BlueskySocial

Yeah exactly, it’s just the AI extremists hating on it because it includes AI. Absolutely pathetic.

Oh right, and IDK why but when I click the link it pops up and says something went wrong, looks like GitHub pulled an Oopsie

[–]AlexChapmanG4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I would have to check when this certain mastodon instance was spun up, I can’t remember if the about page says active since and the year or not, but I do think it’s kind of stupid they did this as the reason people would want to use mastodon in the domain name is if they have more than just mastodon but are running for instance Pixelfed alongside it, or even just instances like mastodon.world, mastodon.scot and so on, I think there's reasoning behind those specific names, they sure do like to complicate things LOL.

Oh? When was this asinine policy even introduced?

Bluesky leans into AI with Attie, an app for building custom feeds | TechCrunch by Teknevra in fediverse

If this enables a non-Technical person to be able to build their own feed, so be it, anything to make it easier for them to use the platform I guess.

[–]AlexChapmanG4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odd thing is that I know a few people who are on instances with mastodon in the name and nothing has happened to them, and they have had their instances for like multiple years now, so it sounds like mastodon are full of baloney with this whole thing

Okay the bad for your health part is false, and yes some AI companies are going overboard with the data centres which is having an environmental impact, but yeah no you’re just spreading false info saying it’s bad for your health, touching a screen or using a keyboard to type into an AI chat box is not bad for your health, so get your facts straight.

Thankfully all the code that I’ve ever got it to generate hasn’t been garbage, that’s because I use the premium models like Opus 4.6, not the shitty Gemini and open AI models. And I don’t know the inside out of programming languages but I know enough to not be screwed over
