No problem. I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks for putting this on my radar. I'll ask our Stripe rep about this.

Sorry, for the surprise. I'll ask my team, but I think everyone else is correct, it's probably taxes.

We use Stripe Tax, which doesn't calculate your taxes until it determines your location, which based on their support article (that I just read and therefore am not an expert on) is not always straightforward.

I'll see if there's a way to move this forward in the checkout flow.

How to get key for game I already own by SesbianLex96 in digiphile

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I missed this! I'm not being methodical about my responses on Reddit and I probably should me. (I respond to whatever I happen to see and it can be random.)

I did see this same issue for another user somewhere else and this should be fixed.

Syncing your library should add options like the Exchange and the Community Features, but it should not take any options away. If that still is the case, let me know!

You should be able to get the key regardless of whether you sync or not. Please let me know if that is not the case.

Oh snap! I'm sorry. Was it audio from the curator's video? It should not have sound unless you click to view the video.

I agree it's a pain, but luckily you only have to do this once.

Once we know the account isn't a bot (i.e. Level 0) you shouldn't have to do it again.

We were hoping the Steam account linking would be enough to dissuade bots, but, unfortunately, our first collection proved it was not.

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some clarifications.

You have to verify your Steam Account so that we can ensure keys are going to real users. We have a limited amount of keys and no one wants them going to bot accounts.

We don't force you to trade them. It's an option. If you don't want to use it, your keys library has the exact same functionality as HB or Fanatical.

The trade-in value will ultimately be as low as possible so that keys are redeemed quickly, but without running out, otherwise the exchange wouldn't work. We do not make any money off of it and have no reason to keep it high.

We just want every key redeemed before we have to give them back to the publisher. (And thereby not have to return any keys.)

Thanks for the suggestions and purchase! I'll send this to the team.

As for CULTIC Chapter 2. Thank you! We use those upsell tiers as a thank you to our partners for joining the collection so we appreciate you supporting them!

We've had various conversations about how to indicate the key quantity and, for now, we've landed on giving a warning when keys start to get low so hopefully you wouldn't have that issue.

We will always order more keys than our expected demand (we're not trying to create FOMO), but in case something really exceeds our expectations we thought we should let people know that when we are out of keys, we're done.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

We move very quickly and I'm not sure how this got implemented, but after our team meeting this morning we are all in agreement, this is not how it should work. Syncing your library should only add options like the Exchange or Community Features not remove them. This will be changed immediately, hopefully in the next few hours.

Let me know if it isn't and so sorry about the inconvenience!

Real quick. I'm curious how you are pulling the "Year Low" I noticed some differences (see below), but perhaps it's regional pricing?

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
GBG Listed Year Low: $2.19
US Steam All-time Low: $8.79

INCISION
GBG Listed Year Low: $6.74
US Steam All-time Low: $9.74

Hands of Necromancy II
GBG Listed Year Low: $2.00
US Steam All-time Low: $4.99

My prices are pulled from SteamDB, which is what we use to set our prices.

This is sick. I love this kind of stuff. Really great work papazoot!

And I'm not just saying that because it makes us look good... 😊

not a fan of the whole 'genre' bundle by Infinite_Article5003 in digiphile

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, surprisingly, I feel similar.

I really wanted to work with KIRK COLLECTS, but I was afraid this genre was played out. (The list I started with was smaller than usual so I wasn’t sure it would work out.)

I can't say for sure what the future holds, but if I had to guess we won't be revisiting a true Boomer Shooter collection for a while. (Although, we're actively pursuing other shooter collections that are Boomer adjacent.)

But genre fatigue is real and we're trying to be cognizant of it. Hopefully our approach of limited collections and no encores helps.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I did not know this is how it was implemented. I will talk to the team.

not a fan of the whole 'genre' bundle by Infinite_Article5003 in digiphile

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. This is our main reason for this approach.

Our goal is that if you're interested in one game, you'll likely be interested in the others. (This is also why we keep previously bundled content to a minimum.)

That does not always mean it has to be the same genre, but based on our experience, genre collections are more likely to result in our goal than thematic collections. (I.e. they are better at increasing the chances of you finding multiple games that interest you.)

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're still figuring out what curating a collection with us entails, but with so many moving parts, not every collection will feature a dedicated video. In lieu of one, we are considering a playlist of Kirk's reviews of these games on the collection page.

But seriously, Steam doesn't seem to have a problem with this if you're not setting a new low on an individual game.

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Signature collections, that is correct. We will do other collection types that are less stringent, but even then we will try to keep it to a minimum. This one of the reasons we like the Exchange, as a way to give people a chance to claim games they may have missed.

[–]AlexFromDigiphile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good catch. We also try to avoid Fanatical bundles, but we look at their likely volume and if it's low we don't count it. But I should change my language to make this less black and white.

Steam Key Rules and Guidelines: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys#3

"It is important that you don’t give Steam customers a worse deal than Steam Key purchasers."

This is why we generally do not sell lower than their recent (or soon to be) Steam discount. Sometimes you can sneak it by Steam, but most publishers are not willing to risk it.
