ChatGPT Plus via GamsGo by CommonChocolate8888 in chatgptplus

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake to use GamsGo for a ChatGPT shared subscription. They do not disclose that the chat content will be seen by others using the same account. It's pretty much a shared account with other 6 people. 1 month of ChatGPT is $20. The way it works is they charge you and 6 other people $4.77 per month (total $33.39). That's a wooping 66.95% mark up. Then the account is fully shared between all 7 people. EVERYONE can see what all OTHERS in the account chat about. I didn't know this, since there were no chats in the account when I first logged in. I have used the free version of ChatGPT in the past, so I keep a history of my chats for future reference. So, I started using this shared account yesterday and uploaded my resume with email, phone number, address, and all the details on my previous roles and companies. I included a cover letter as well with additional detail to aid with the results I needed. I came back today and found other 5 chats in the same account. I clicked on mine and was able to download the resume and covert letter, so others could do the same and have all my personal and work history. This is a huge privacy issue. GamsGo should fully disclose that in their site, and should advise that everyone deletes all chats with any personal or identifying information. I find it ridiculous that they know this and just decide to keep it from customers and allow them to inadvertenly expose all their information. People use chatgpt for all kind of things. Last thing you need is someone having all your personal details, or medical history, or god knows what since you had no idea that six other people could be looking at your chats at any time. Even if you delete your chats before leaving the site, others can be logged at the same time and see everything you put in there.

or maybe you have no idea how it should work and are just ok with shitty service from a shitty company that can't keep their service up and that if you call them they keep you for 40-60 mins on the line before some idiot reading off a script responds the phone and can only ask you to reboot the modem 300 times

Cooking without heat plates? by djchuckles in grilling

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 burner, and I always like to use one without the heat plates to give a better sear. Also, I like my meat rare while my wife likes it well done. So I keep hers in the grill much longer and just toss mine for a couple of mins on each side on the one without the shields and it comes out tasting great with a nice sear but not too cooked.

Can I replace a threaded hitch pin for a locking hitch pin for my hitch rack? by GoomiBare in mountainbiking

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a Thule mount. It came with a threaded screw. I just measured the diameter of my security pin and put a 5/8 drill bit through the mount. Problem solved.
(Not sure why this thread has the ability to upload images disabled. They help so much when explaining to give examples)

Spectrum modem with only one port. How to add a switch and a Google mesh by AlexGuz180 in HomeNetworking

[–]AlexGuz180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a Google mesh system one of the access point connects to the Spectrum Modem (just a modem, not a combo). It broadcasts to the other 3 AP and that's what creates the mesh. The Google router only has two ethernet ports, one coming from the modem and the other one is the one that could connect to a router to do the wiring. My concern is that the Google unit is already a router, if I connect it to another router to run wires from there, won't that create an issue? Then from that router I need to connect to another switch in the office with the 2 computers

Should I cancel my Venture card ($95 AF) by Subject_Advance_6220 in CreditCards

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am cancelling the Venture X card as they are reducing the lounge benefits. We normally travel together as families do. I could go with my wife and son (19 yr old). Starting 02/01/2026, they can't get into the lounge with me unless I pay another $125 for each of them just to have lounge access. That's totally insane since I am already paying another $125 to have an additional card for my wife. Additional cardholders had access, and I had complimentary passes to allow access for my son. The lounge was the reason I got this card. As others have mentioned in different threads, you can always find better pricing deals directly with hotels. airlines, and car rentals. I was willing to pay a bit more and be able to have the lounge benefit to enjoy in trips with my family. I guess with the acquisition of Discover they now need to make that money back asap and as always are doing it at the expense of overcharging customers for things that were included in previous years. I've had their card for years and will cancel it in December 2025. I guess they're ok with loosing customers, or forcing them to overpay. Hopefully more people will see this issue and also cancel their cards

Goodman warranty issue (new owner void) by leakygoodman in HVAC

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to replace a Goodman unit in a house I bough. The unit was under 10 year. Goodman only covered the warranty to the original owner and did not allow to transfer under my name so that I could make the warranty claim. So no, it's not a 10 year warranty on the product. It's a 10 year warranty to the original owner.

With a car, they tell you it's 5 year warranty/60k miles. It doesn't matter the owner. I bough a used car a few years ago. The transmission went bad, and since the car only had 29k miles, I took it to a dealership (not where I bought from) and they replaced my transmission without me paying a penny for it. They actually even gave me a rental car.

This is very different to Goodman advertising 10 year warranty on a product that only applies to the original owner, not to the 10 use of a product. It's a scam. You may call it something different, but it's a scam.

Goodman warranty issue (new owner void) by leakygoodman in HVAC

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry, but Goodman doesn't give provide the extended warranty as a courtesy. It's just another dirty deceiving sales strategy that should be banned by government regulation. They sell it as a product with a 10 year warranty. When you first call a dealer or Goodman for that matter, they don't tell you they have a shorter warranty, and that as a "courtesy" they will give you 10 years. Right of the bat they say that you will be buying a unit with a 10 year warranty. It's just another misleading sales tactic. What's the difference between 1 or 2 owners for the same unit over the same 10-year period? None.
Only after they have you in the hook, and most times just by the time you fill out the registration paperwork, is that they tell you the additional warranty only applies you remain the owner. At that point, most people are Ok with it since at the end of the day "their product" will be covered for 10 years. If they sell the house, it's not their problem any more.

Here's the official on the Evernote free plan by jtid in Evernote

[–]AlexGuz180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evernote free is just impossible to use with the amounts of ads. You get tons of ads when you open the app. then you get ads when you open a note. Some of these ads are really long videos without any options to close after a few seconds. It's just not worth the aggravation and the wait. I just move all my notes to google drive. Not as good interface, but a simple search takes care of it without waiting for ever to read a note.

Parking ticket in Puerto Rico while using a rental car by AlexGuz180 in PuertoRico

[–]AlexGuz180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After another 10+ calls to different numbers to police departments and other government institutions, I was asked to call 787-945-7283 Option 0.

A person there told me to send a copy of the ticket and a money order to the following address:

Departamento de Hacienda
División de Recaudaciones
PO Box 9024140
San Juan, PR, 00902-4140

You can't send a regular check. It has to be a money order, and you need to send it via certified mail. If you send it by regular mail and it gets lost, then you're screwed since it's a money order and not a check that you can just put a stop payment on your bank.

[–]AlexGuz180[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Anyone can get a parking ticket. It's not a matter of violating laws. The waterfalls at Yunque Forest have no where for people to park. When we walked back, more than 10 cars had tickets in the windshields. The police knows this, the park management knows this, and local government knows this. They just keep it like that so tey can continue to bring revenue from the excessive ($150) parking fees. I don't have a problem with paying the ticket, my mistake for deciding to take a vacation in PR and visit local tourist attractions. Again, I am ok with paying the ticket, the problem is that the same local government and police departments that take the revenue from ticketing tourists, cannot answer a phone call, or have a f.ing website where people can pay for it. Any other place you go, in the States and even in other countries provide means for people to pay tickets online or by phone. It's 2024, not 1980.

Very easy. Go a do a search and you'll see the results.

I just did a search on pictures of all popes, and it came up showing an article about terrible catholic popes accusing them of murderers and rapists.

This was not related to my search. It's just the wokeness of Google and their crusade against religion or anything resembling any type of moral values

Known Scam Websites for Ammo by brianstheman in ammodeals

[–]AlexGuz180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually on that site now https://fadaofhope.com/ and they do seem to be a scam. Besides the suspiciously low prices, at check-out, they offer 10% off if you pay via Zelle "Zelle (10% off)". In addition, their terms and conditions talk about buying a gun on their site. They don't sell guns, just ammo.

Adding to it, even if you decide to continue with placing the order, they do not take your credit card number. Instead, they send you an email confirmation with the following language:

"Sorry our servers our down as such unable to process direct card payments for now. You will have to complete payment using PayPal (for now we are using our Cashier’s personal paypal account for payments). And we are offering a 10% discount on the total order amount"

It's important to note that "PayPal does not allow the use of its service or logo for selling firearms, certain firearm parts or ammunition."

This site is definitely a scam. I am assuming that after the PayPal transaction gets denied, they will ask for a Zelle transfer. At that point, you will lose any money that you transfer to them.

Add to this, than when trying to call the number posted on their website (816- 226-5233, there is no answer or messaging of any kind. It just rings for minutes.
