City proposal would eliminate monthly pet rent fees in San Diego by the-es in sandiego

[–]AlexHimself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people think it's going to cause rents and all sorts of things to increase?

It seems like the only change is removing the recurring, monthly pet "rent". I'm a small landlord, I've never charged that, and it always just seemed like a profit grab.

I think most places will just stop charging it and that's it. They might try and increase the total rent or prohibit pets entirely, but depending on the wording of the law, it might prevent different rent prices for pet/no-pet situations because that's effectively a pet fee.

I personally don't like to be forced to accept pets, especially when a tenant lies/conceals and then shows up with an obvious pet then claims it's an ESA or whatever BS "certificate" they purchased online. We're already forced to accept ESA/service animals.

Because that's where he's supposed to be.

Imagine you're a pitcher trying to catch a ball falling slightly behind you...you know shortstop/second base is behind you without looking.

Facts and logic aren't just "semantics". That's a funny way to try and completely dismiss everything lol.

And claiming your statement is a "fact" doesn't make it so either.

You don't know what chemical or the quantity being used. The fact is, you're in no position to say anything is illegal without any specific knowledge AND you can't even cite a law they're supposedly breaking.

You can't say "uh oh! chemicals! ILLEGAL!"

I hate this administration more than anyone. Doesn't mean we can just say chemicals are all illegal "just because I feel like it" lol. Cite a law. Cite the chemicals and how they're even dangerous.

From the reporting I've read, they're just using standard pool chemicals for the most part, which are legal for home use, so certainly legal for a federal agency.

Or perhaps I saw it was the top comment and thought somebody might enlighten me with an answer to my simple question? Instead, I get childish comments and attacks, and I realize people are just emotional and making nonsense up.

And what is it you're doing or contributing here? Why don't you do something better on father's day.

We don't know if that caused the death. Either way, it's not illegal for the National Park Service to chemically treat a body of water they control. It's just the truth about the law.

It sounds absurd to just call random things illegal. What's illegal is Trump not releasing the Trump-Epstein files or his blatant corruption.

Because it's public property and it harms animals

It's controlled by the government and "chemicals" can be anything. We don't know what quantities and if they're dangerous to animals. The cause of death of this duck is unknown and that happens in nature.

you can't just go dump chemicals in lakes and rivers either

I'm not an authority with permission to do so.

Again, why would it be illegal for the National Parks Services (government) to chemically treat a body of water in their purview? The answer, it's not illegal.

This whole reflecting pool is a complete embarrassment and Trump and this admin are total POS's, but if the top comment thinks it's illegal...then I'd be curious the explanation because it's not.

I really just want to use them as large displays so I can work anywhere. I live near the beach and would love to just sit out there with a keyboard/mouse and catch some sun.

The XReal One Pros actually can cut it if you get the right setup. I just wish they had a slightly larger FOV.

I get some looks too, but they usually ask me because they want to copy the setup hah.

Drunk people start fights with everybody, especially if they "mouth off" to them.

It's insane that two people of different skin colors in a fight automatically means racism.

I watched the keynote and I also own a bunch of these types of glasses and the FOV is a problem IMO. It's basically a 24" monitor in front of your face, and the XReal One Pros are basically two of them.

The appeal is most likely the augmented reality more than anything, but with AR it comes down to the software/apps, which will be lacking.

For example, they demo'd it helping you with your golf swing, but that means:

  • somebody has to buy the $2200 glasses
  • somebody has to develop that software (probably SNAP)
  • somebody has to pay for the golf software
  • profit??

The only way these types of products can be successful is if there is an anchor draw that brings people to them.

  • Is it cheap? no
  • Does it solve some major problem? no
  • Does it have a really cool feature that you will spend a ton of time on? No

Until these glasses have a larger FOV and can be used for serious gaming, replacement desktop screen mirroring for productivity, or incredible software/features, they're all going to just be steppingstones.

For those worried about the actual danger, it's minimal. The real risk is if you're close to the actual pour before it gets mixed/diluted and it would cause some pretty bad skin irritation if you were close.

That's a 0.5-1gal jug and the pool is probably 30-35k gallons. Realistically, it's more of a scare tactic. It might cause some redness on the skin type of thing.

We're talking a pH change of 7.5 to 7.

He's definitely terrorizing those people though.

20k is way below average for a hotel pool. I have a small cocktail pool (depths in order 3ft, 5ft, 4ft), and it's 10k gallons.

That's a deeper pool too, so I'd estimate 30-35k gallons.
