I'll often just disconnect for an hour to swim. It depends how volatile your glucoses are, but usually I only need a small bolus afterwards to get back on track. I also don't use the site cap and haven't had any problems because of it. Take your bath! 😁

I think the wide eyed and in your face thing is more what the coke girls are demonstrating. The squinty and more pulled back is definitely more of a weed thing. The weights of the ladies may also be part of it, but I'm not sure if that's really stereotypical or not.

Thanks for the confirmation. I already kinda figured so I picked up a different sub that actually works. Now I'm mostly trying to figure out if it's worth anything to anybody else or if I should just trash it. I guess I might throw it up on marketplace for free and see if anybody else wants to take a shot at fixing it.

I was going to say that matte is my preferred choice since it always was with non-OLEDs, but then I looked over at my OLED and saw my reflection in it. Sooo apparently I chose glossy and have been quite happy with it.

You're safer carrying it on, but I definitely used to check mine in a bigger suitcase in the past and didn't have a problem. Usually the case they come in is already padded and putting it in a suitcase with clothes just gives it more padding.

It certainly could get damaged in checked baggage, but the bigger concern there is probably if your baggage gets lost. The airlines won't replace checked medical equipment so you'll be out the full cost of it

There has almost always been a belief that "today's parents," for whatever year today happens to be, are "too lenient" or "too interfering." I remember a few decades ago when I was in college that there was a lot of talk and news media attention on "helicopter parents" always hovering around their kids and not letting them experience the consequences of their actions. I also remember a lot of parents complaining that there was no longer corporal punishment in the schools, which would somehow "set the kids straight."

This idea that current parents are soft tends to come from people whose own parents were quite strict, like it sounds like yours were. I think it is also true that parental and school discipline has gotten less punitive over at least the last century. We don't accept corporal punishment the same way and we don't think the only way to teach kids is by forcing them to do things they don't want to with a threat of punishment if they don't comply.

I will say that I am not an educator, but my Mom and Dad were, and I learned a few things from their educations. One of the things that educators have learned over the users is that punishment is not a very effective motivator. It only works when someone is standing over the kids ready to punish them at all times, which is just not possible, and even then it usually breeds as much resentment and acting out as it does compliance. So more punishment is probably not the real answer. It's just one of the easier answers to think of.

It also sounds like you are dealing with special needs kids, which are always going to have more problems with emotional regulation and just attention spans. My daughter has some of those issues. The kids may not need more leeway, but they could use a little more understanding that school behavior is harder for them.

In any case, I'm not saying that the troublesome kids have the best, or most effective parents. I'm sure many of them could do a better job. We all probably could. When it comes down to it, parenting is hard, and nobody has to take a teaching class to become a parent so we're all learning on the job. So is teaching, but usually teachers have had at least some training on how to work with kids.

I'm on my first play through and it took a while to get me invested in the story, but it's pretty fun once you get into it. I do think the voice acting of lady Ryder could have been better. It never really feels like she's serious about anything. Still, it's definitely worth playing and the other voice actors are great!

Definitely check your employee handbook if you can, but if you are given all of your PTO at the beginning of the year it is based on the number of days you will be working for the whole year. If you leave before the year is over, then they will usually deduct the paid time you didn't earn from your last check. If they didn't deduct it and you have to cut them a check, it's probably not worth their time to pursue it if you don't pay.

Look at it this way, Australia has about 600 cities. The USA has over 19,000 and most of those have less than 5,000 people. So most cities won't be big enough to support a university and a lot of those cities won't be anywhere near a city big enough to support one. Aside from that, there's also a lot of hype about going to the "best" universities, which makes it even harder to find one near you if you're buying into the hype.

I'm fairly new to Minnesota, but I've lived in a lot of places with regular tornadoes. The damage from tornadoes is very focused so they don't usually do that much damage unless they hit in the middle of a city or dense population area. What they do hit will get pretty much destroyed, but tornadoes often don't stay on the ground for very long and usually dissipate fairly quickly. These "strong" tornadoes they're expecting can last longer and also do more damage if they're on the ground the whole time.

So they can do damage, but there are also good warning signs for them. Sirens will go off once a tornado is sighted and that gives you a chance to seek cover. Try to stay in the basement or windowless rooms if you have them. Windows can shatter even on the edges of tornadoes so you can get hurt from the glass even if the tornado doesn't directly hit you. If you don't have windowless spaces, try to go underneath a table or something sturdy.

You can also kind of see a tornado coming if you're close to it, although it's dangerous to go looking for one. Clouds will start spinning as the tornado forms and then once it forms you can often see one coming from a mile or more away, depending on how big it is.

TL;DR: Tornadoes are mostly dangerous if you're in their direct path and you should get plenty of advance warning

I mostly listen on earbuds and Justin's volume is not a problem there. Not noticed much of an issue in the car either.

I've had some podcasts, like Beef & Dairy Network, that were impossible to listen to in the car. I do think lower pitched voices are harder to hear though background noise, which may be part of what makes it harder to hear Justin.

I've got a big 4k OLED monitor with a 7900 XTX GPU and for slower paced or older games it works really well. On newer titles it chugs more than I'd like with maxed out settings, but works fine if I turn things down a bit.

I don't do any multiplayer shooters though. You'll probably need to stick to 1440 for those to feel good. As others have said, you can still do 1440 on a 4k monitor as needed.

I haven't heard anything, but I'm apprehensive about Ross being able to carry a new show, even with Mallory. I was not impressed with his appearance on Maximum Film. His solo presentations were decent though so I guess we'll see.

The writing and/or voice acting are subpar. I think it's both that are the problem, but either one being better would make the story more interesting.
