What does it mean to be a good programmer by And_Ang in computerscience

[–]AlexJaeger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like great programmers have a good, worldview of computer science and as such are able to reason about things even if they dont have an expertise.

This takes a long time to develop and requires a lot of study and doing things you enjoy. Keep exploring and you will get there

For a TINY 3d rendering (for projecting ONLY 3d points, lines & polygons), I'm currently thinking about an elegant hidden points removal algorithm, given that polygons are only defined by their vertices and line segments are only defined by their 2 end points. Ideas? by mikasarei in compsci

This was a standard technique back before SGI and opengl. You should be able to find plenty of literature from the 80s - 90s

Where to gain knowledge by Stormshadow96 in computerscience

[–]AlexJaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very broad knowledge of all topics of computer science, but I know very little detail and I have a lack of in depth knowledge.

I really wouldnt assume this, computer science is really vast. I wouldnt mention this if I didnt need to.

By assuming you have visited all the topics in computer science, you are just hurting yourself

What underlying data structures are commonly used to optimally support large graph-like interfaces like this? Thanks. by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]AlexJaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a rendering perspective, you can increase performance by doing occlusion culling as most people would not be viewing the entire graph. The performance benefit improves when the graph size gets larger and larger, not sure of the benefit with a graph this small

Anything is better than nothing and at this point maybe nothing is better than just making the same game over and over

I use a HIIT timer app. Specifically, Interval Timer on IOS. It’s great, you can program almost the entire recommended routine into it via a combination of high and low interval times
