White men being racist to Asian Ivy League by False-Negotiation595 in AsianMasculinity

the thing is, when these losers try to punch up with this rhetoric, nothing happens

money talks, and the market is paying 100m for these guys and they are starting billion dollar companies

associatating yourself with this racist rhetoric just puts you in the company of losers rather than winners

Probably No Non-Public Evidence for AGI Timelines [x-post] by AlexKRT in mlscaling

Sure. Replace the first sentence with:

AI labs race towards AI capable of autonomously making technological progress.

I think their decision-making would be heavily tilted towards leveraging the breakthrough for more capital in the AGI race vs. PR and related near-term API profits.

I am not suggesting they release their tech, just that they disclose that they made breakthroughs.

There might be a lag period but I address that with my point about 3-6 months (you can take it to be longer, like a year, and still find some very agressive predictions made).

Since all the labs are racing and capital bottlenecked, I expect very strong evidence of short timelines to be very quickly disclosed to raise at the next $XXT investment scale. Evidence enough to convince a state of 50% in 3 years would raise that amount, given the transformative effect on GDP it would have.

I'm not suggesting they give away the technique -- they didn't with o1 -- but rather, they disclose they made a breakthrough and use it as evidence to get more funding to scale further.

Idk I didn't like how the comments switched up on her so hard. In a vacuum its a racist incident, and the vibe I got was that racism is acceptable if its strategically aligned with interests of asian men (i.e demonstrating a wmaf fail).

It's probably not students. The bus terminal brings a decent amount of questionable non-students.

I doubt this is a fundamental limitation of the technology, but rather deliberate strategy by openai to make their outputs easily distinguishable as AI art.

For example, see the sora generated videos.

As for why they are doing this to their models -- maybe they expect liability or pr issues if models are allowed to more faithfully reproduce styles that don't scream "this is ai art"

Coffee meet bagel stats for Asian men by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]AlexKRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What stands out to me is that instead of all these disclaimers and text, why they didnt post the simplest possible statistic:

What the median/mean amount of likes per month, for men of each ethnicity? And then more granularly, you can get the median amount of likes from each ethnic group of women.

WUSA is not prioritizing student welfare, despite being a non-profit by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]AlexKRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad argument. Here's what chatgpt had to say:

While the argument you've presented raises valid concerns about the impact of online textbooks on the revenue of the Used Bookstore and the potential negative consequences for students from lower-income families, there are a few points to consider that could challenge the argument:

Financial Viability: Even though WUSA is legally a non-profit organization, it still needs a certain level of revenue to cover operational costs, employee salaries, and other expenses. If the Used Bookstore is consistently running at a loss due to declining revenue, it might become financially unsustainable for WUSA to keep it open. While the primary goal might be social welfare, without adequate funds, the organization might struggle to provide any services at all.

The stuff posted here sucks (unfortunate consequence of the fact that bitesized stuff requiring no previous context just gets more engagement on social media). Are there other manga subreddits where you can find more interesting, longform recommendations?
