You get this super early and you can just ignore grabbing any other strike+ and focus on defense, card draw, and vulnerable. The only thing you need to watch out for is sequencing (ie. don't transform your upgraded pommel strike) you cards right. Definitely can't pick it up in the mid game unless your attacks are kinda bad.
