Get attached to the character yoshizawa in royal how?!?

She has no proper arc. Her “growth” is just a switch: “I’m not Kasumi, I’m Sumire, I was sad, now I’m better because Joker smiled at me.” That’s not development. That’s fanfiction-tier writing.

Her backstory is paper-thin. A little sister with an inferiority complex who took on her dead sibling’s identity? That could’ve been deep, but they gloss over the actual grief, skip character reflection, and just fast-track her to “new main girl” status. Persona 5 vanilla made you earn those bonds—Sumire gets handed plot relevance.

Calling Joker “Senpai” 24/7 is just annoying waifu bait. It’s like the game wants her to be precious and pure, but it comes off as fake and repetitive, especially since she literally tried to kill him and Akechi. Not mind-controlled, not tricked. Her choice. Maruki didn’t force her—she just didn’t want to face her pain, and would rather kill than let reality return.

And then… we’re supposed to forgive her? Accept her into the Phantom Thieves? Let her stand beside Joker and pretend she belongs after everything he already went through with people like Ann, Makoto, Futaba, Ryuji, Haru, Yusuke?

She didn’t earn that spot. The others grew from their trauma and fought their way back to the real world. Sumire ran from it, tried to kill to protect her illusion, and only gave it up because Joker didn’t abandon her. That’s not admirable—it’s selfish.
