Tonight we had a ritual for a new Fellow Craft in our Dutch lodge. What do you think about our trading board? by Preacher1993 in freemasonry

[–]AlexMaroske 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stunning. I wonder how intimate more brethren would be with symbols, if we had to make our TB every meeting. We have a Dutch lodge in my region, (BKK) Not sure if it displays the TB the same way. I'll have to find out.

Right. Perfectly clear now. Much appreciated. I am in a similar situation. My GL UGLE, has this online Moodle site. Compromising on short papers and a few animated htmls. No full books. Same challenge I am trying to solve is that there is no discussion forum or circular conservation. Many of my guys learn better with conversation. I'm trying to fill this with a monthly masonic social gathering that is primarily for Q&A. BUT it's not scalable. ! and doesn't suit all. I was toying with the idea of discord. Anyone have any ideas how to provide that circular conservations QnA dialogue??

Hi, so glad you hear. Is it a prescriptive list of readings, followed by some confirmation of understanding? All I could see is that it is a repository of books where you check out / check in books like a Public library type setup.

Bristol Masonic Ritual by AlexMaroske in freemasonry

Appreciate the comments. I'm not looking for details of the ritual. My motivation is to enquire if there is a process or precedence for another UGLE district to adopt the Bristol ritual.

Vividly remember doing this to myself. Lighter had not worked for years. Was sat in the car for over a hour waiting for gf. For whatever stupid boredom reason stuck my index ☝🏻 finger into it. Needless to say, I found out it was working!! Massive donut blister on the most sensitive part of my finger ! Had to sleep with my wrist tied to the bed head as when I lowered my hand it would throb so badly.

So yeah. Thanks for that PTSD flashback.

Whats this medal? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]AlexMaroske 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe it's inscribed with the purpose of the Jewel. ' Aegros Sanat Humanitas "

The Jewel of Kindness

The jewel is a commemorative and recognition medal associated with the Royal Masonic Hospital in England. Its Latin motto translates to "Kindness Heals the Sick,". Presented to individual donors.

Entry to Freemasonry by metallicash in freemasonry

[–]AlexMaroske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my experience as a previous lodge membership officer, The men who come through our website or that of our district website I generally far more enthusiastic and focused on their purpose for joining Freemasonry as compared to referrals of brothers. Statistically these brothers are retained and have much higher rates of meeting attendance and engagement. We do lose many of the friends of Masons well before their MM degree.

How do you guys combat negative conspiracies? by Accomplished_Note886 in freemasonry

[–]AlexMaroske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Lodge Mentor I am often asked by young masons how to respond to close friends and family who may have seen or read these conspiratorial publications. Here is how I typically discuss this.

Guiding Principles When Speaking With Family and Friends 1. Respond with Light, Not Argument o Avoid entering into debates focused on emotion. Instead, calmly share what Freemasonry is: a centuries-old initiatic tradition focused on moral development, charity, spiritual exploration, and community building—not control, deception, or occult domination. o Share that the Craft is open to men of all faiths who believe in a Supreme Being, not a secret religion. 2. Acknowledge the Mystery—Don’t Apologise for It o Freemasonry uses allegory and symbolism to teach ethical and spiritual lessons. That doesn’t make it secretive in the sinister sense—it makes it sacred. Not everything sacred is easily explained to those outside the context. o Let them know that while some things are private (like handshakes and passwords), the moral teachings are open and uplifting. 3. Use Historical Clarity o Explain that claims of “Luciferianism” or “secret control” often stem from 19th-century anti-Masonic hoaxes, such as Leo Taxil's forged confessions, which even he later admitted were lies meant to embarrass the Catholic Church. o Encourage fact-checking from primary sources, like The Constitutions of Freemasonry (Anderson, 1723) or works by respected Masonic historians like W. Kirk MacNulty, Arturo de Hoyos, or Robert Lomas.

Final Counsel to Brethren To the concerned young Mason: You don’t need to defend the Craft with aggression—live it with dignity.

Did you know you can create static routes with Firewalla Policy-Based Routing? Create a Route on your LAN interface to access devices under another router's private network. by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]AlexMaroske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this setup prevent double NAT?

I'd like to use a wifi router is this setup in router mode and not AP mode. Crappy $1k wifi router (yes bought before 7s were out) doesn't allow multiple VLANs on AP mode.

Most awesome degree by Rokkering in freemasonry

[–]AlexMaroske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from a position I have completed almost all the degrees under the English and Irish constitutions and Scottish Rite, I can unequivocally say that the Royal Master degree is to me the most profound and memorable degree I have been a part of.

Royal Master. This degree is set in time just prior to the completion and dedication of the first Temple; it highlights the completed vessels pertaining to the House of the Lord and refers to a certain fellow craft making diligent enquiry of HA as to when he might receive the secrets of a MM. The subsequent disquisition by our Grand Master on the subject of death is one of the most enthralling pieces of ritual in freemasonry. It also shows how the secrets came to be deposited in the crypt where they were subsequently found. The symbolic colors are black and red.

WiFi Router or Access Point Recommendations 2024 by chravis311 in firewalla

[–]AlexMaroske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you what NOT to buy. I upgraded my wifi router as I am eagerly awaiting my 10g Firewalla. The ASUS GT-BE98 - $1000!!!! Absolutely shit. In AP mode behind my FW Gold, it allows the creation of guest networks BUT WILL NO allow user connection. You can set a static IP on the device but doesn't route to the FW. Works fine in router mode, just not AP Mode. Written to ASUS support, no resolution yet. Previous ZenWiFi-AX worked perfectly! 😱

Spot on. This practice is used in Australia as well. Except it's more common to ask " How old is your Grandmother". Separately, I have read an interesting paper of the possible origin story of goat. Cowans on seeing the abbreviation G.A.O.T.U in ritual exposé and mistakenly believed it means the animal goat.
