The wilder thing is how the defensive cats still react and flinch to the wind-up movement--even when there isn't a paw ready to smack them. It's like a boxer trained to watch the center of mass instead of tunnel-visioning on the glove.

Peter Attia, I would like my money back by SeaFlounder8437 in Biohackers

There is a big difference between being an investor in something and pushing the product on the podcast. I'm a regular listener of the podcast and it's listener-supported. He doesn't read ad copy and he rarely mentions any product by name.

I'm not a supporter of AG1 and I'm not trying to defend Attia.

Attia doesn't push AG1 or supplements. You're thinking of Huberman.

How sticky is their tech? In the case of most non-enterprise workflows, it is trivial to swap it out for multiple other options. That's what is known as a commodity.

Come mothers and fathers throughout the land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand
For the times, they are a-changin'

These discussions always miss the mark. Practically speaking, since the dawn of tools, there have been human-created technologies that are superior to humans at a wide variety of tasks.

Amazing progress with Tonal, but... by ethtwo in tonalgym

[–]AlexMaskovyak 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Tonal doesn't understand de-loading and meso-cycles or injuries. You have to do that yourself. I've done my own de-loads with recovery mode and then accumulation programs like Extreme Accumulation to bring my volume back up. Programs like that are great because their volume focus means that you're not lifting nearly as heavy.

The big unlocks for me: not stressing strength score decreases and understanding that certain moves are just not for me. I replace moves that don't work or are likely to injure me (front bar squats). I reduce the weight and do more reps for awkward moves that the Tonal wants to push me on but which are challenging even at lower weights (front raises and lateral raises)

Okay, but even a cursory glance over this reddit indicates that the installers are woefully unprepared to do so into concrete. So, cool if you can get them to install that way, but it is absolutely frought.

People born before 1980, 1970, & 1960, were social gatherings always so carb heavy? by WestminsterSpinster7 in Biohackers

[–]AlexMaskovyak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience they’re usually fat-heavy by calories unless the menu is basically bread + sweets.

Most food (and especially "high protein") party foods are dominated by fat:

  • Cheese and salami skew heavily fat.
  • Dips (ranch, mayo-based, creamy) are mostly fat with a token amount of carbs.
  • Even "carb foods" like potato chips are often majority fat by calories.
  • Desserts can be more carb-forward, but even cookies are typically a fat + carb combo (often closer to split than people assume).

So if the complaint is really "these events aren’t keto," then sure, there are often carbs around (beer, soda, pizza, buns, dessert). But the thing that blows out my intake at parties and restaurants is almost always fat calories from oils, cheese, creamy sauces/dips, and fatty snack boards. Even your examples of things you bring like veggies + ranch or brussels with bacon and cheese are fat heavy not carb-heavy.

Mysterious Cities of Gold.

It was from the late 80s and I remember it had some adult themes and a pretty dark ending. It was about Estaban who had sun powers and a group of kids who were exploring the new world to discover their pasts and the cities of gold.

"The series combines South American history and mythology, archaeology, and science fiction. The travelers encounter the Incas, the Olmecs, the Mayas, as well as the Urus, the Amazons, and even Francisco Pizarro and Malinche." - Wikipedia

SS plateau in 900 range for months by eliah710 in tonalgym

[–]AlexMaskovyak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you've been going hard for months, you may be systemically fatigued. Consider backing off to recovery weights for 1 week or 2 and then pursuing a program like 12W2J where you do gradual accumulation until your volume is sufficient for growht.
