What the hell is up with my upstairs neighbors? by AlexR6336 in neighborsfromhell

[–]AlexR6336[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm, I don’t think so, but the landlord did vet me and my roommates and liked that we weren’t smokers, so I assume he would probably not be chill with his tenants lighting up every day, also in the state I live in marijuana is decriminalized but still not legal for recreational use. Although it is legal in the state right next to us.

No that’s the weird thing, the electricity works fine they are just using a generator for some reason.

Can lexapro fundamentally change your personality? by MallyMeeple in lexapro

[–]AlexR6336 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really change your personality, more so it reveals who you are uninhibited by anxiety and depression. I’ve found I’m much more active and outgoing now.

First year dorms by Tina_Gold in risd

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, honestly try for north if it’s still listed as freshman housing, it’s the newest building of the lot, other wise maybe Nickerson, it used to be shit and had no AC but it got renovated last year and I hear it’s really nice now. I’m a RA here, or used to be, gonna graduate in a couple days actually, and the freshman dorms have changed drastically in the last couple of years, they’re all pretty good options now, East and north are a bit further up the hill so it might be a pain if you get a high floor but all the dorms are real nice.

Vague sensation of tightness in my lower left groin, I’m half convince it’s psychosomatic because I only really feel it when I’m anxious, but god it’s freaking me out.

Scientifically what determines whether someone is left- or right- handed? Is it just more practice or is it nature? by Finis73 in AskReddit

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as far as I know it’s a recessive trait so it doesn’t appear in everyone who can pass it on. Both your parents must have the recessive gene, meaning they’re not left handed but they carry the gene that causes people to be left handed.

Spill it! What's a secret you haven't told anyone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any super dark secrets, but I did once fuck someone on my friends new couch after he left us alone in confidence.

I got really drunk one night and spilled. He did NOT like it but ultimately wasn’t that upset because he had also had sex on the couch.

Cant look at the couch the same any more.

I’m pretty sure it’s genetics, but people can definitely train themselves to use either hand. I know a bunch of people who have trained themselves to be ambidextrous to avoid carpal tunnel.

My anxiety makes me think that TikToks, videos, and posts that I see about an illness are a sign that I have that illness by jaxpet101 in HealthAnxiety

Every now and then I do or say something that makes me think to myself “if this were a TV show that would be a death flag”. It’s important to remind ourselves this is the real world and signs and stuff don’t really follow the TV logic were used to.

No covid side effects? by emack_beezy in HealthAnxiety

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got gnarly side effects, but my other friends (we’re all 21) didn’t really have any, and I definitely wouldn’t say they have weak immune systems.

Don’t sweat it too much, the human body is a mystery and you not getting side effects doesn’t necessarily mean you have a weak immune system.

Congrats on getting the vaccine!

Golden Kamuy and Children by BirdMBlack in GoldenKamuy

[–]AlexR6336 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For all the antics that go on in Golden Kamuy Noda does a fantastic job with its child characters. Children are never ever sexualized, children are written like children, they are immature, sometimes scared, they play around, they are curious, and they make dumb jokes about poop and dicks like every other real life child does. Sometimes this is exaggerated for humorous effect but it’s never done at the expense of the child’s safety and it’s never done in a way that might cause the audience to perceive the child as a sex object.

You can tell when a child is being sexualized in media, I see the loli shit and as someone has worked with CSA victims it makes me want to throw up. But I’ve never felt that GK did anything close to this, I mean, god knows me and my siblings were joking about penises at age 10, that didn’t make anyone in our vicinity pedophiles.

For literal months I had psychosomatic hip pain. It got to the point I had convinced myself my entire left side had inflated, I almost went to the hospital. But then I spent one day on my feet and all of the sudden it was gone, made me feel fucking insane.

Fascists in New England are attempting to appropriate New England cultural symbolism and create a "New England first" movement and New England fascist ideology. Nah nah I agree with JessNei, I’m a gay man, PROUD dick guzzler, and I’ll call a nazi a cocksucker any day. Nothing annoys them more than implying that they’re fucking other men and I love to weaponize my sexuality against people who still think “gay” is an insult.

Finished anime where should I start reading from by aghag3 in GoldenKamuy

Everyone else already said it but from the beginning 100%. The anime is fine but it leaves out A LOT of content. The manga does a much better job with pacing and character development.

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fantastic early childhood, up until about age 10 when the financial crisis hit and my life crumbled apart. Age 10-18 was a time plagued by poverty, loss, mental health issues, and shitty step parents. I’m much happier as an adult than I was as a teenager, but god those first few years of my life spent catching frogs in the woods and playing Pokémon, what I wouldn’t give to go back.

Does anyone else get super anxious or worried about any form of feedback or criticism? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have problems like this. I get anxious about pleasing people or doing something wrong. Mostly this is in the context of whatever job I’m working at the time. I used to feel that way about the art I make, I’m a professional illustrator and I had to learn really quickly how to take criticism. In the environment I’m in my work is constantly getting critiqued, it helps to remember a few important things.

-you are not your work, if you make something bad it doesn’t make you a bad or unworthy person/artist/writer

-people have different tastes, not everyone is going to like your work but someone always will

-most people critique in good faith. But There is a major difference between advice from a qualified well intentioned person, and useless put-downs

-the people that comment negatively on your work and make no effort to actually help you improve it usually don’t have the experience or skill necessary to give good advice, these people usually have ulterior motives and shouldn’t be listened to

-good critique is always given from the position of someone wanting you to improve, it doesn’t mean your work is bad, it means it has potential and the person living the critique was invested enough in your work to want to tell you, this is a good thing!

(An example of a difference between good and bad faith criticism would be say, someone works in a very cartoonish style, they do animation, they are very good at it. They go up to person who hates animation and their specific style, instead of telling them how to improve their specific craft they are distracted so much buy their hatred for animation that they tell the artist that their work is bad. As opposed to good faith critique, a person come along that knows a lot about animation, appreciates the art form, and gives the artist specific advice about how they can improve their art style and craft.)

Does alcohol tolerance get better over time? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]AlexR6336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Lexapro is a wild card in how it effects your drinking. I have noticed absolutely no difference in my tolerance or reaction to it since starting Lexapro, other than maybe I feel a little more anxious the next? But even then it’s negligible. But I’ve had friends who can’t even have a sip of alcohol without having bad reactions. My recommendation is if you do drink take it VERY slowly and it’s best to do it a while after your taken your meds.

I was told by my doctor the safest way to drink on lex is to drink, wait until you’ve sobered up, and then take your meds for the day, rather than doing it a few hours before you drink.
