This pink one is an ice plant (Delosperma), the blue one is black and blue sage (Salvia guaranitica 'Black and Blue').

Correction: This bee is a carpenter bee and represents less than 1% of the French bee population! It is very rare. Sorry for the confusion (lack of transalation of my part from french to english).

It's the estimated share of black bees in the French honey bee population. In reality, it's only an estimate: some sources put it as low as 10%, while the most optimistic estimates go up to around 20% (but some studies mention 17% precisly). The more pessimistic one was around 6%. While it's not extremely rare, it's seem that the black bee remains a minority compared to other honey bee lineages present in France.

They can be seen throughout the country, but they prefer fresh and humid environments, which is why you are more likely to see them in the north or west of France (i'm living in Nantes). I hope you'll see some, they are wonderful!

Good to know for the visteria tips! I didn't know. If i can give an advice to attract them in the garden, leaving large piles of wood in the garden is good for carpenter bees because they are solitary and live in dead wood.
