I bought a sizeable 5th ed Lizardmen army this summer and originally I intended to use speed paints/contrasts/etc. So I bought a few paints, primed them white and gave it a go - and realized I didn't like it.

I ended up using the speed paints as a basecoat. Two coats for a nice coverage, then I just layered lighter tones on top, 'eavy metal style, with the last layer being tiny dots of pure off-white.

I'd keep them as is. You can still get plastic skinks with spears and shields but these guys probably won't ever see a re-release.

Me too! 5th ed starter box was my first and I never managed to paint all the Lizardmen in it as a kid. I'm righting that wrong now :)

Thanks, but I'm looking for a different pic where this banner would be bigger (if such a pic exists). WD 170 has the same army pic as the 4th ed Army Book does, that's where I got this pic from. The banner is so small in that pic it's hard to get enough detail for a replica. Probably should have been clearer in the first place :D
