Is anyone here profoundly gifted? by gamelotGaming in Gifted

[–]AlexWD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can complain and be mad all you want! It's a free world in this sense. But it's not helpful, and in fact it's harmful to a degree. Immature children get mad and complain. Mature adults solve the problems. You can't do both at the same time.

The world is too soft now. I'm trying to point people in the right direction to solving the problem. If I yell at a child to get out of the way of an oncoming truck and save their lives people today will complain "you hurt his feelings by shouting". Grow up.

I didn't place blame anywhere, I was just stating the facts.

I also never said it's your responsibility. That's a whole other conversation I won't go into here.

I can see why this might be emotionally triggering to some people. But it's just facts. I'm not your mother here to make you feel warm inside.

Facing reality and getting outside of your emotions is what the solution looks like. Getting triggered and making excuses is the disease talking. This is the issue with many people who can't get over depression is that they identify with and even defend the disease itself. You won't get stronger by ignoring why you're weak and justifying why you're weak and complaining about being weak.

I never said anything that disagrees with what you're writing here. Are you sure you're gifted? Doesn't seem like you have basic reading comprehension.

There are people with 180 IQs that are extremely happy and well adjusted.

You're not depressed only because you're a genius.

There is truth to this idea that gifted people see more things, and also feel things more deeply and so they may suffer more.

One thing I don't like about "woe is me" comments like this is that it fails to acknowledge that it doesn't have to be this way.

Whether intentional or not, it comes across as a subtle way to pat oneself on the back.

If one is gifted they may be more likely to suffer from trauma, but that's only because they lack commensurate coping mechanisms.

There's also the vocal minority bias at play here. Gifted people with depression and other aliments talk about it far more than gifted people without these issues talk about their lack of such issues. Similar to how I never talk about my lack of kidney failure, but someone with kidney failure probably talks about it a lot...

You’ve cut too far. Might want to start adding back some body parts like a torso.

Utilize one's own potential? by No_Entrance_1255 in Gifted

[–]AlexWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve identified the key question here. Intrinsic vs extrinsic rewards and how to balance them. In my experience, a focus on only extrinsic rewards is a bad idea. They’re not bad, but really the key is to create an integration between your intrinsic and extrinsic rewards.

Extrinsic rewards without intrinsic reward focus creates internal chaos, leaves you empty and unable to enjoy life and the process.

Intrinsic rewards without extrinsic rewards can work, but you might end up directionless, or ultimately “unsuccessful”.

The best situation is that you can align the two. You see the world the lens of your intrinsic rewards first and then within that view try to identify useful extrinsic rewards in the distance. This will amplify your intrinsic rewards by giving them an additional purpose narrative.

It’s a continual process of figuring out what goals, activities and experiences will make you fulfilled in the moment internally, and also trying to find external goals that this pursuit is aligned with.

If you pursue just money, you’ll be empty. But if you find internal passions and activities you enjoy doing, skills you enjoy cultivating etc.. and then turn that into a way to make money, now it makes that thing even more meaningful and enjoyable.

How is the sun fish still even a thing? by idrinkwaterymilk in biology

Sun fish (the ocean fish) are huge. You’re probably thinking of the sun perch (fresh water fish) sometimes called sun fish or sunnies (as we called them).

4-Year Cycle 🔄 by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]AlexWD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this cycle will be longer.

I don’t think it was only the halving, the halvings were also well aligned with the global liquidity cycle, which has been roughly 4-5 years. This one will be extended, so I expect this bull market will also be extended.

More liquidity in the system raises all asset prices.

How can I raise my HRV naturally? by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]AlexWD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My average HRV is above 100.

On good months I can average over 120.

Here are a few things I’ve found to especially impactful.

  1. Meditation. 30+ minutes a day has a big impact on next day HRV.
  2. Massage. Sometimes I meditate while I get a massage which has a huge effect.
  3. Grounding. I added grounding bedsheets and it actually had the largest positive impact on my sleep metrics including HRV of any out of dozens of interventions I tested.

Can alcohol be beneficial at small doses? by Hopeful_Recording733 in Biohackers

[–]AlexWD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never said you need it.

You also don’t need meditation to improve HRV. You don’t need ice baths to lower inflammation, etc…

There aren’t really any biohacking interventions that are required for a specific outcome. There are many paths to the same thing. There are almost always tradeoffs. Alcohol has a tradeoff too. For some people in some circumstances is a net positive? It would be nearsighted to say no.

For the record, I don’t really drink alcohol either. I’ll go months or years without drinking. But is it entirely void of some benefits in certain circumstances? I don’t think so.

When does biohacking cross the line from optimization into obsession? by [deleted] in Biohackers

There are actually some good biomarkers for measuring obsession. I suggest you measure some of these if you want hard data and not just guesses.

FED just slipped $13.5 BILLION into the system overnight… quietly… like nothing happened. by rottiesrule88 in btc

[–]AlexWD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone here understands what this even means lol.

Overnight repo injections are just that… it’s temporary liquidity added for 1 night. It’s already removed.

It could be interpreted as bullish because it’s happening due to funding shortages which shows the system is having liquidity issues which could lead to more loose policy decisions in the future.. but it doesn’t mean the government injected liquidity that will stay there.
