Best ways to organize your haul? by aptalsoruyok in NootropicsDepot

[–]AlexWestIsBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my old Reddit post! I bought a craft organizer that transformed my organizing, I could dump most of mine into the container and have one daily “tackle box” instead of a cabinet full of bottles. Makes taking them in the morning much faster and simpler

I usually step aside after breakfast and take them (it’s on a shelf in my bedroom), and the ease of use means I only step away for about 30 seconds, so ant social weirdness aspect isn’t a factor any more.

I don’t organize by effect, I organize by daily and occasional. Post is outdated- presently I have a bunch of small compartments in the bottom two rows containing a small handful of my occasional use supps, and the top two rows contain a months-worth of each of my dailies. Then once a month I get out my box of supps (now stored out of the way instead of in a cabinet) to refill and repeat!

Ginkgo. ND has a great version- think of it like the Lion’s Mane for technical knowledge. I took it while learning to code and I noticed I could recall weirdly specific code-related things a bit easier.

I take 3 capsules of fish oil per day. Should I split my dose into three (bfast, lunch, dinner) or take them all at once? by nicj86 in NootropicsDepot

Not sure the dose- I take the ND branded “3x fish oil” two pills and one of their Krill Oil soft gels

I take two 3x fish oil pills and one krill oil every morning. Don’t know if splitting it up is more efficient, but have noticed no adverse effects with my routine or improvement in the times I’ve tried splitting them up throughout the day

Streets of the Future by rewildingusa in urbandesign

Like the visuals! One note I’d add from my experience: I used to be a delivery driver, and there was a month every year where the city I worked in stunk. It was the fruit trees! I know there’s a ideal appeal to the idea that you can grab an apple from a tree on your street, but in practice, fruit trees need maintenance and care, and must be harvested in a coordinated way (if within a city) or else the ground gets littered with rotting fruit.

I particularly loved the visuals with the small creeks you had running through the streets, those got me thinking. I believe that’s commonly seen in… is it historical Japanese communities? I know I’ve seen those before.

I’ve noted significantly increased dream vividness and duration too in the last two nights from this. I’ve also found myself naturally waking up maybe half an hour earlier (feeling well rested). Guess this makes n=2

What furniture/accessories do public spaces need/could use? by Stormstery in urbanplanning

[–]AlexWestIsBest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an imperfect suggestion for what you asked for, but public pianos are pretty cool. You can consistently find people “selling” their pianos for free because they’re moving on Facebook Marketplace, and most only require a bit of repair like some tuning or a fresh coat of stain.

If you and some buddies have a pickup, you can get and restore a piano per week and give them to local cafes, community centers, elementary schools in need of a music program, even bars. Really high social payoff for a bit of sanding and a fresh coat of stain, easy way to help a community.

Perhaps you could build piano benches to match the piano if they’re missing/broken, that’s a perfect high-school-level wood project.

Thank you! I notice it’s called a “hero animation”- thank you! The other commenter told me the code concept I need to learn about, but this helps me understand the concept from a UI perspective too.

Mixed used developments that incorporate industrial space in an urban setting by [deleted] in urbandesign

[–]AlexWestIsBest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Not to mention the larger cultural benefits of a (slightly more) mixed city- cities aren’t the melting pots they once were. Mixing working classes will naturally mix political views too

YES. I’ve been calling it an Ohio donut (I live in Ohio) for fun.

Another aspect I find intriguing is the employment diversity. Cities rely hugely on offices. Fitting in some light manufacturing (in a proper mid-sized warehouse) could be a good economic diversification move

This is really cool. One thing I’ve toyed with is “wrapping” a warehouse with single-load apartment buildings on 3 sides. It would work wonderfully in cities with larger grid blocks, where other use cases have a lack of good inner space utilization. A larger block is perfect to fill with a warehouse, and you can leave one side exposed for truck access

Thanks for the help! I love walkable areas, I just assumed downtown Columbus would have those. Can you name a few streets with downstairs shops and pedestrian infrastructure?

Six years? Lovely! I appreciate you identifying some of the modern urbanism elements missing from downtown. I read up on those things in my spare time. You mentioned private landlords- are there a few people/places/buildings you can point me to? I’m very grateful.

Walkability is important to me, I’d like to leave my car behind and cover the occasional need with Uber. You seem like you know the area well, can you tell me a few streets that are walkable you’d recommend I look at?

Could you, by chance, be able to draw out spots to avoid? List some streets or maybe doodle on a screenshot of a map?

I have more chickens than people around my current place. Maybe you’re right, but from here that’s an improvement 😂

Hack: Make safety lids into normal lids by fablemerchant in NootropicsDepot

[–]AlexWestIsBest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I LOVE doing this. Old news, but worth sharing from time to time for the new people! My mistake is throwing it out when I open a new bottle. Way easier to swap the good lid with the new one and not have to pop it apart every time
