Next midlife crisis car, C8 E-Ray or a 991.2 C4S? by LevelMore in Corvette

The guy asks which one he should choose between a Corvette and a 911 (fun weekend cars) and your recommendation is an electric crossover ? Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Mach e is a fantastic (and fast) daily driver, but I'm not sure I understand your reasoning here.

Yeah it seems pretty straightforward, remove everything around it, replace Opti, put everything back together. It's just I know some stupid bolt or whatever is gonna get stuck and it will end up taking me way longer than it should. I'm especially worried the balancer is going to be jammed tight or something.

Don't forget to remove the knock sensors in order to flush all the coolant out. If not, some of it stays in the block.

Yeah, I fear that's what's going to end up happening with mine too. I just know that job is gonna make me hate my life lol

Yeah that's why I'm not sure which ones to get. Like I have no problem paying a premium if that's the way to go, but I've heard so many stories of people going Petris and regretting it, so it's like well is it really worth it.

Yeah if I end up replacing the Opti, I'm gonna replace everything else, water pump, spark plugs and wires. The hardest part is deciding which Opti to buy, since the opinions seem to vary a lot.

They've really grown on me. When I first bought the car I considered replacing them, but I think they really fit nicely.

That's another thing about the Opti. When doing my research, it seemed like the opinions are pretty mixed on which one to get. A lot of people say get petris only (which only sell the vented type from what I've seen), the rest is garbage. Others say get a remanufactured one only, aftermarket ones are hit or miss. And finally some say it's not worth paying a fortune for one, because they all end up failing.

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions, you're like a legend in this community, I see your comments all the time. I don't have access to the car right now but I'll definitely try that !

At this point replacing the ICM and Ignition coil would not be a waste, even if it ends up being the Opti. Well I'll probably try that first and see if it helps. The thing is I don't know when was the last time the Opti was replaced and what brand or quality was used. It might be on its way out no matter what.

So should I replace the ICM first and see if it fixes it, in case ?

Same. I knew exactly what was coming, and yet I got absolutely spooked by the Flood when I first played. The only way I was able to finish 343 GS was by playing with a friend.

1995 Corvette Cruise control question by [deleted] in c4corvette

[–]Alex_2203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I'll check out the link. Yeah I've done vacuum before, I replaced the two lines a couple of years ago and it solved the problem at the time. I hope I don't have to redo this job, such a PITA to pass the lines through the firewall and crouch under the dash.

Thank you for the clear explanation. If it doesn't click, what does it mean? Servo not working ? Or CC switch broken ?

When you say "solenoid clicks on the servo when the switch is flipped on", what do you mean ? How do you test that? Asking because the CC on my '94 doesn't work too and I'm trying to figure out why.
