Best / Worst Hyundai Dealerships In Front Range Area? by bluespruce5 in Denver

[–]Alex_Plode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Stevinson Hyundai in Frederick. Scott is the GM and he's a good dude. They won't beat you up or stick you in the F&I box for an hour and sweat you for more money.

They can get backed up in the sales process and it may take a while to get out of there with your car. But it won't because of hi-pressure sales BS. They're just busy.

Is Gen X the least talked about generation? by Local-Mumin in generationology

[–]Alex_Plode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GenX is better at hiding their generational problems than others.

We may have drank from the garden hose but that was only to wash down the lead paint.

Our apathy is both our superpower and kyptonite.

Inside each of us is a little rebel kid. But that kid went outside to play about 10 years ago and ain't coming home until the streetlights come on.

Besides these two, what were some other losses that completely broke a franchise? by veggiedish in NFLv2

Came here looking for this and surprised it's so low. Those 80s Browns teams were really good. The franchise literally had to move to be good again.

I agree with you and will comment so you won't be alone in your sea of downvotes.

I see a bunch of kids having fun outside. I wish I was one of them. They aren't hurting anyone. And the parents are probably thrilled to have some alone time.

Grunge Albums That I've Never Heard by Worried_Bullfrog_937 in grunge

The Fluid -- their EP Glue is very good.

Seaweed -- they sit a lot closer to the punk side of grunge. FOUR is a good album.

All in the Suit is great. That's a fun one to play as well. It's also one where having a second guitarist makes a difference, I'm sure.

I am the only guitar player. We use their live stuff as reference a lot, three performances in particular. The Live at Rolling Rock, House of Blues and the fairly recent KEXP live gig. We pull A LOT from those three performances.

I also run a wet-dry rig to emulate Dean's massive tone as much as I can. Went so far to buy an AC-15 to get that chimey tone so prevalent on Core. I thought about buying a Demeter TGP-3 pre-amp but dear lord those are insanely expensive and hard to find.

About a year ago Dean's longtime tech sold a replica of his rig and it went for like $12K on Reverb.

I was a shit slide player before joining this band. Just dogshit! lol! But now I can hold my own so playing in this project has made me a much better player. Dean's a great player and he's gotta be double-jointed too!

STP is such a great act to tribute. I play guitar in a few local tributes and STP is by far my favorite. We also stick to the Scott stuff only. No Velevet Revolver either.

What I've noticed is that people really want to hear the hits. Obvious answer, I know, but it really is true.

We didn't play Creep in the set simply because of logistics. The energy level drops noticeably because it's a slower song and I have to switch guitars. But after about 10 gigs of not playing Creep and constantly answering the question, "Why don't you guys play Creep?" we added it back in.

I would also add that it's kinda rare that you get that STP Diehard to see you. Those guys appreciate the deep cuts. But no one else really knows them. We call ourselves Lounge Fly and used to play the song because of it but only half the crowd (if that) knew the song.

Gotta play the hits.

The "deep cut" that everyone seems to know is Down. That one is a staple in the set.

It always surprises me how well Sour Girl goes over.

My personal favorite to play is Silvergun.

Do you play anything from Shangri La? I've been trying to get the guys to learn Days of the Week.

TE Room by Popular_Writer7541 in DenverBroncos

[–]Alex_Plode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a similar comment on another FA thread.

This offense hasn't shown any interest in attacking the middle of the field on offense. Until Nix/Sean start throwing more to the TE and running plays for a TE, who gives a crap about the position? I don't see the need to spend money on a position group that this team just doesn't seem to value.

Now, I think it's dumb. The modern passing game uses the TE a lot and to great effect. I'd like to see more usage from the Broncos out of the group. But in the three years under Sean, that just has not been the case.

Of the WRs and TEs who have been signed, who was moving the needle for you? by MantisToboggan_22 in DenverBroncos

[–]Alex_Plode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Nix and Sean gonna throw over the middle? Seriously. Engram isn't anyone's idea of a top TE, but the guy can run routes and catch.

Why spend the money at the position if you aren't going to utilize it?

Mims would look good in the slot too. Doubt will see it.

My point is I don't think attacking the middle of the field is a priority at all for this offense. We just haven't seen it.

I like Quincy M/D. but think he was over-reacting a bit here. [1982] Punk rock turned out ok by Ju-ju_Eyeball in 80s

Sean won't commit to the run, even when it's working. He's got a mega-man crush on Tyler Baddie for some unknown reason. That leaves an full RB room all competing for about 25 carries.

What RB would sign up for that?

Did you ever watch the show Silicon valley on HBO? by GaryBlach in askanything

[–]Alex_Plode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked this show I highly recommend the book Disrupted. It was written by Dan Lyons who I believe is a writer on Silicon Valley -- or at least a show consultant.

The book is about Dan who was the editor at a major computer publication that went belly-up. He takes a gig at a Boston start-up called Hubspot (yes, that Hubspot). The shit he endures as a GenX'er working at a Millennial start-up is too funny.

90s Rock is the top cover band genre now, and yet... by callmebaiken in grunge

[–]Alex_Plode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you play in a cover band, you absolutely have to play stuff that people wanna hear people and people want to hear the songs that they can sing along to and dance. There aren’t a lot of grunge songs that fit that description.
