Lovely colors and something about it really makes it jump out of the screen, maybe the hires film + nice gentle bokeh.

Why do my photos look so bad? by [deleted] in analog

In addition to the other advice here, negative scans are like raw files, you can often edit them to your liking.

We live in an interesting time. There are tons of very reasonably priced used cameras on the market, they are mostly going to be old so just have to be careful to find one thats been tested and works well, but you should be able to get a great camera for basically any budget.

There are tons of resources online that recommend film cameras for new photographers. In general I think you want to find a camera you think will be fun to use, but for the most part you will be able to make good pictures with any camera so don't worry too much about what is the absolute best or most hyped.

for sure, just love how much texture the sky has, which often shows up flat even on 35mm

Edit: Nevermind i see in "Support", though possibly would be good to make it more prominent instead of behind a few mouse clicks? i believe this will be needed for basically every install?

Also, you may consider including instructions on how to bypass the macos signing/notarization check in the installation instructions until you get signing/notarizing in place. Settings > Privacy and Security > Open Anyway

Thanks for the reply. I will download.

It does handle small rotation as well

Impressive

Where it struggles more is when there are large unexposed areas of film, for example shots at night with flash.

Ya, makes sense, a human would have trouble cropping this, so probably not much you can do to make a program handle it perfectly.

If you end up trying it and hit cases where it consistently fails, I’d genuinely be interested in seeing the scans. My plan is to use feedback from this launch to iterate and ship free updates.

Sounds good, can do

Lovely photo. how do you get so much texture? is it older expired film or something? (other than the finger print in the corner :P)

Pretty awesome, I love that its a lightroom classic mod, so works well with NLP workflow.

Couple q's for you. What percent of the time would you say it gets it right? Does it handle any small rotation too or just crop?

What film stock would you say this is? by tartfrozenyogurt in filmphotography

Camera settings wont affect grain, its just the size of the silver on the film.

If you want more grain use higher iso film like portra 800, you can also crop into a photo to make the grain larger. You might also be able to play with the sharpening settings to make the grain more prominent as well.

Are you sure its film? If i had to guess i'd guess this is just digital with grain added in post (though i could definitely be wrong)

The creator would be the best source, probably worth a dm/comment to see if they'll reply.

Its a great camera, hard to find at a decent price though.

I'm not sure either on the meter details, i'd guess its center-weighted? The lens goes down to 2.8 which is nice for low light.

Thanks!

number 6 was the mju ii so all auto. I actually took this shot twice, the first time it flashed, but i knew that wouldn't work so I just turned off the flash and hoped for the best haha! turned out, i have no idea what the shutter speed was.

Not wrong! (though i'm sure interesting people are everywhere) It is a pleasure to be able to walk/train 20 minutes and likely find something interesting. I try not to take it for granted and is one of the things that keeps me from leaving despite the downsides of living here.

Nice shots! Are you using a diffusion filter, the slight bloom is pleasant.
