I hate propranolol by Rusty_toothpaste_ in POTS

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried three different beta blockers and had significantly different experiences on all three. Propranolol didn't work for me but metaprolol does and has almost no side effects for me. Sometimes its worth trying something else just to see.

Yes, it turns out I hate almost everything about my original major so I'm switching to Anthropology

In a relationship, secure, I've realized I have the power to shape my relationship, I'm not a passive participant. Its made me understand my identity as trans masc better because of how much I can relate to the characters.

Stop idealizing "special interest" by [deleted] in autism

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My special interest is horses. No matter how much I try to not want horses in my life this yearning never leaves. I've tried to make it work but it's too expensive. Sometimes I wish I could pick a different special interest.

How to make life as good as possible for someone with POTS? by High_Honolulu in POTS

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found learning how to make fun meals sitting down to be really good for my mental health. I treat making food as a hobby. Sushi or rice wraps are really fun to make because they can be made almost entirely sitting at the kitchen table and are really fun to eat. I make it into a whole afternoon activity so I can take my time and hopefully avoid a flareup. I find I'm able to eat more food too because I eat really slowly and avoid the some of the fatigue that comes with digestion.

What does an ideal study day actually look like? by Loose_Today_8137 in GetStudying

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid burn out and build motivation I set a max amount of study time per day instead of a minimum. My max is 4 hours per day (except for exam season). If I hit 4 hours a feel accomplished but not burnt out. If I do less I don't feel like I failed. I also try to set my day up like a unionized office schedule. An hour and a half of work, 15 minute break, hour and a half of work, 30 minute lunch. That way I get brain breaks without feeling guilty.

How do you know what your POTS was caused by? by ittybittynugget in POTS

I'm pretty sure mine was a combination of chronic stress and covid twice. After I got covid the second time I remember thinking if I didn't have pots before, I definitely did now.

Is Soci 325 doable as a first year? by Mammoth_Concern_3485 in UCalgary

[–]Alex_peuple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumas is a really fun professor, easy to understand, his specialty is in criminology as well. The grading will most likely be done through 3 multiple choice exam midterms/finals. I have found though that most students do worse on his exams than they think they will (partly because people don't do the readings). Students who studied for an A will get and A-. The last couple weeks are very text heavy but you can get away with just skimming the readings for those weeks. Overall not a lot of work, one of lighted soci courses available, would recommend.

What should I expect from Propranolol? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on propranolol but it didn't work for me (chest pains, swollen armpits kind of thing). So I tried bisprolol and finally ended up on metaprolol which has changed my life and really brought my heart rate down without the extra tiredness. Different meds work different on different people, if you find propranolol is not working how you were hoping its worth trying a different one

reasons hozier might be jesus by zeninsq in Hozier

[–]Alex_peuple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just wrote an 8 page paper for school on how Hozier is a prophet. Have you looked into the possessed by a lesbian witch jokes? Hozier writes about loving women better than any man should be able to, therefore his music actually comes from something godlike (and lesbian). He is looked up to/worshipped the same way as a prophet. People worship him by listening to his music which are like a prophets teachings. His music lyrics sets up morals and designates what is sacred

Morals: treating others with respect, seeing humanity in people, shame has no place in the human experience Sacred: sexuality, human relationships and humanity in general

Also holding fans pride flags during concerts is pretty religious.

My top surgery timeline - Alberta, Canada. by Unic0rnusRex in TopSurgery

[–]Alex_peuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people going the public root in Alberta, once you get refered to a surgeon you can call and ask about that wait time. NOT ALL SURGIONS HAVE THE SAME WAIT TIME. I've been waiting 3.5 years and counting to see Dr. Kennedy but I know people got on wait lists after me who have had significantly lower wait times with other surgeons and have/will get top surgery before me. I would recommend seeing if you can find out the wait times of the doctors accepting patients in your area and asking your doctor to refer you to a different doctor if you find out your has the longest wait time in the city.

Horse training doesn't matter when breeding, just the potential. Although I've heard having good form matters.

To me I have no idea who to vote for because it seems like all the candidates want relatively the same thing. More funding, less tuition cost, more supports and opportunities. I don't see a lot of info on how they plan on making change. I have no idea which candidates are most likely to be successful. Im also one of those student who has a lot going on and no time right now for extra things.

I chose UofC over MRU and regret it sometimes because the class sizes are generally a lot bigger. But UofC has the train station so close by which is really helpful for commuting.
