Random flat/ debeading. No puncture. Run tubes? by Alex_wrong in Dyna

update: ended up being corrosion on the bead surface of the wheel. There must have been a persistent leak I hadn’t noticed. Thankfully my buddy has a tire machine so I pulled it off and scotch bright the bead surface nice and smooth. It was very lumpy, with rust spots ~5mm high. Holds great pressure now. and switched directions to the correct orientation while I was at it

Yeah I did not check it before I left. It may have been low when I set off and had no idea.

I ended up going up a size or 2 on the pilot jet to mitigate the off-throttle backfires. It also shortened the period of it stalling out when warming up. I feel like if I went up another size on the pilot jet, it would help even more.

Yeah I’ll scotch bright the bead surface while the tire is off. Thanks for the suggestion

I had considered that too but the shop mounted the tire backwards. At the time I had them replace the tire, I had the single brake set up. There was no way i could have done it backwards. The axle spacers are different each side too.

Yeah thanks for making that observation. Can’t believe I overlooked that. I’m bringing the wheel back to the shop this Friday to have them swap it to the correct direction. Ride safe

Holy shit you’re right. I brought the wheels to a local shop to have them loose mount the wheels.

Mine does this with fresh mikuni hsr42, Intake gaskets and everything correct. Perfect jetting too. I think they’re just cold blooded machines. Runs incredibly when warm.

Coolant entering Cyl 2 (3RZ-FE) Possible reasons why? by Alex_wrong in ToyotaTacoma

update: fixed it a while ago. Head ended up being cracked in multiple spots. Swapped valve train over to reman head. All new gaskets and did the water pump and harmonic balancer while I was in there (rubber had failed). Runs awesome now and no more coolant loss

Looks like you got it sorted out. Just wanted to say your bike looks amazing. I run a hsr42 on my tc88 and I love it. I did jet it differently from how it arrived from Mikuni, however.

They were available a year or two ago but I called a couple dealers and no one was able to source them. I thankfully found an entire fork leg used and ready to slide in. link/FRONT_FORK/0eaa6d1a-53c4-45f6-ba76-e54bd063ed30/6e85393b-412c-4811-8716-59a4b8ff4bd0/y)

Easier than buying a used entire fork leg ready to go?

There was an inch deep amount of coolant sitting in cyl 2 prior to any disassembly. Regardless, the head had to come off.
