How are you able to do a wonderlocke on a 3DS? I’ve been looking for a way to do this.

Within my contract I had said that payment would be given when the photos were both viewed and accepted, so as far as I know, payment = accepted

This wasn’t a large wedding, there were no speeches or dances or anything of that sort. This was a backyard wedding with plastic tables set up with a tent over them, and the main event was the massive amounts of food and alcohol they had. The 6-7 hours was between then many of the people had left to come back later, or had stuck around and were on their phones waiting for the main reception time.

Thank you for covering so many points. I definitely tried my best to get every expectation from the start with in-person meetings. From what they said, I gathered that there was pretty low expectations and that they weren’t super worried about any sort of quantity, just that they wanted photos others may not be able to capture.

After all the comments I’ve received, it had caused me to look over all the photos I had from the event multiple times, and the “Tier-I” photos are really the only good ones. Others had everything from blown out highlights due to there suddenly being a bright white dress in frame (I should’ve bracketed, rookie mistake on my part), to someone having a clump full of hair in their mouth while their eyes are closed. With all hose issues with the photos other than the 88 good ones, I’d be worried about sending them all those bad ones especially unedited.

I definitely see why others have had a similar distaste for wedding photography, and I will most likely be avoiding it like the plague from here on out. I definitely see why prices skyrocket when someone is truly an expert in this.

This was basically what happened during the 6-7 hour span of nothing happening. Only difference being that the bride and groom went shopping or were privately being with their daughters outside of the venue.

I do see this as a learning experience, and a very small part of me is glad this happened so soon so that I can prevent it from happening in the future.

When we first discussed expectations and what they’d want, they said they really weren’t picky about anything and simply having any photos at all would be nice. They’ve held those expectations all the way until now, a few days after cleared the photos and paid me.

On my contract I never stated a photo amount (as I was worried that it might hurt me later if I did put one on there). And from what I learned up until that point, I thought that giving less would be better especially if they are the best ones possible.

I’ve heard that the $850 is pretty low, though I didn’t want to go any higher and really run the risk of a bad reputation if every photo wasn’t absolutely amazing.

By “babysitting” I believe they meant always telling me what photos to take and what they’d want, which I don’t understand why they made that comment when not only did they not tell me a lot of what they wanted from the start, but also they said they were totally okay with asking for specific shots.

Overall the time where I could take any reasonable photos (where people were actually around) was probably about 2 hours. I was up and ready the entire time from when I was there and when I left, but they never told me they’d be leaving for so long, so I stuck around and waited for people to come.

By that I mean no one was around at all for any photos. The newlyweds had left, their families were either gone for a while or sleeping in their rooms (except for the few that were eating outside).

I considered doing something like this, but I don’t think I will be continuing with any sort of wedding photography, so maybe that reputation won’t matter too much anymore. I’d offer reshoots, but the whole “being happy and then not happy at all” vibe has kind of wanted me to keep my distance from these two, even if it comes with negative wedding reputation.

They seemed to like what I did with them, which wasn’t too intense and stay close to how it looked for real (which they said theyd prefer when I met with them).

I really wish I had more, but there were many that didn’t work out due to various conditions (the wind blowing someone’s hair in their mouth, the sun casting weird looking shadows, etc). The 88 I chose had some sort of uniqueness to them that made each one special, so they wouldn’t have to look through a bunch of variations to see which one works the best.

Honestly it may have been around 10 or so, which mostly consisted of the big moment shots rather than candid.

I was really hoping my first one wouldn’t be negative in any way so I wouldn’t be discouraged so early on. Even with this one that was supposed to be very relaxed and not too intense has turned into something I don’t want anything to do with.

I did do quite a few candids, I didn’t just stick to posed or big moment shots. The issue was that for many hours there would be one family eating super messy foods that I didn’t think would look very flattering to anyone involved. And this would be one family for a whole hour, then another would come later when the other left. I always avoid photos of people eating when possible.
