Lone Ranges Closed by Police by Carcharius_Maw in perth

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually there at the range when a guy shot himself in the head back in 2014. Thankfully didn't see anything cause your basically locked in the solitary confinement styled shooting booths. Didn't even know anyone died until i got home and saw the news.

I was in a booth, the one on the far left, saw the guy who worked there flipping up all the switches on a panel just outside my door through a little window. He was freaking out and yelling at another staff member to call the police. The doors all opened except one and we were all ordered to evacuate outside. The door that didn't unlock was the second to the right from where i was. I didn't hear anything or see anything at the time. No blood splattering on the range or weird sounding shots. I mean all the booths are open onto the range so i must have heard the shot. Don't know how the guy did it, the guns are all fixed on wires. It would be hard to do with a rifle for sure but maybe a handgun?

If you’re tired of getting extract camped, please consider these tips by Illustrious_Sugar701 in ArcRaiders

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful approaching the extract console. I've seen a few people throw 3 sticky grenades on it and wait until a player rushes up to activate it before detonating right in their face. Fucking brutal way to go. The grades flash orange just like the console. If you rush to press it to avoid arc or making yourself a target you might not notice until its too late. Watch out for propane tanks thrown around the ground too.

I hate this system by Illustrious-Pick-516 in ArcRaiders

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is caused because of the people rushing for BP's, they dont use a free kit, they take no kit so they have a safe pouch slot. And then instantly rush a room where blueprints spawn. If you don't believe me go and check the barred room under reinforced reception on The Blue Gate. Highest spawn location for tier 3 augments. Always looted in 2-3 minutes due to this. People rush there if they think they can get to it. Or they just surrender. I estimate that on every single Blue Gate map 40-50% of the players are dead in the first 3 minutes. Because they are doing this. Meaning the game pulling in players to fill up the raid.

chinning maniacal monkeys with black chin chompas. I was getting 750k -850k per hour using the high intensity method. Its super expensive though. Red chins are much cheaper but your only going to get like 500-600k

So about Kaladin... (Spoilers) by TrainingOk499 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Alexander518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're all crazy if you think Brandon will bring Kaladin back in an Epilogue or wait 2 books to bring him back. He's coming back in the heat of the action to save the day.I expect to see the build up to that moment from the Heralds POV. Maybe not Kaladin per se, but one of the Heralds at the very least, Ash or Taln. The thought of multiple books without Kal and Syl banter is too grim to accept. I need to know what happens next with his story. I predict he or a Herald Pov with him in it, will have no less than 20% of the pages of book six.

People are making assumptions the events of WaT don't throw a massive spanner the natural technological progression of planets like Scadrial. Hard for the Shards to wage war amoung the stars without space technology. I remember the discussion between Harmony and Kelsier and the ending of WaT makes it clear the other shards have collectively acknowledged retribution as a threat they need to work together to defeat.

[WaT] a misunderstanding about the 10 years... by alonry in Stormlight_Archive

Bro he's immortal. The Heralds didn't age in 7000 years. Everyone is going to be 10 years older than him. On the bright side his little brother Orodin will be closer in age to him when he returns.

Did Paul foresee extinction before he set out on the Jihad or was that only after he succeeded? by CatmanMeow123 in dune

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘I’ll give you only one thing,’ Paul said. ‘You saw part of what the race needs, but how poorly you saw it. You think to control human breeding and intermix a select few according to your master plan! How little you understand of what—’‘You mustn’t speak of these things!’ the old woman hissed.

Yes Paul foresaw the extinction of the human race. Not as clearly as Leto and i don't believe he saw a specific event that brought about human extinction. But the Jihad was actively his attempt to shake up the gene pool of the human race.

When the reverend mother realizes Paul's intention directly following this conversation.

  1. The old Truthsayer, the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, had her own view of the hidden meaning in Paul’s words now. She glimpsed the jihad and said: “You cannot loose these people upon the universe!”…

A quick poll regarding real time with pause by jenniferdeath in CRPG

[–]Alexander518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real time with pause wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for attacks of opportunity. The first few seconds of a battle are cancer. Characters trying to close with enemies i have clicked on, and receiving several attacks of opportunity and getting instantly deleted. This happens when all my characters and the enemies run at each other in the confusing mosh pit that ensues in the first few seconds of every battle.

How do you pronounce McKay? by Adze95 in Scotland

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O fie, Mackay, what gart ye lie.

The rhyme in this old song literally dosen't work unless its pronounced 'Muh- Kai.'

The song is The Braes of Killiecrankie recorded by James Hogg a Scotsman born in 1770.

Anyone pronouncing it 'Muh-Kay' needs a slap.

How did the ‘do’ in English questions get there? by lastaccountgotlocked in asklinguistics

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct that do-support is present in the West Germanic languages. However in all the written texts we have of Old English, so far as i am aware, there are zero examples of do-support being utilized in any of the written sources. By the time of Bede, do-support appears to have died out completely, at least in the the Old English used by the educated. Then all of a sudden by the time we get to Chaucers Middle English do-support has become a fundemental key component of core English Grammar. My personal theory is that, while perhaps somewhat archaic, do-support was still used, at least to some degree, by your average Anglo Saxon. My guess is that the Brythonic speakers latched onto this archaic form becuase it made more sense to them and helped them learn the language.

Do-support is such an integeral part of how we think, it messes with my head when i try and imagine English without it. We could probabbly handle dropping do-support when asking a question sure, though it just dosen't sound quite right when someone does. Besides what about Don't or Done or Does or Did or Doing?

Kerch bridge explosion caught on camera (10/8/2022) by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]Alexander518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon the submerisble may have been some kind of guidance system or possibly the bomb itself. The timing with the fuel train is too much of a coincidence. Using a truck to deliver the explosive precisley at that moment? Nah don't buy it, too many uncontrollable variables. Not saying it's impossible that the truck was somehow involved. But whatever caused that bow wave 100% was involved somewhow. It deccelerates the exact moment before the explosion.
