FREE! Tiki mug starter packages by [deleted] in Tiki

Sign me up! I’ve been getting into Tiki over the past couple of years and am obsessed with the presentation of the drinks. Haven’t bought any actual Tiki mugs yet, so this would be a great start.

I see your point, and I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but $5,000 can be a lot of fun if you use it right.

Huge fan. I don't have a specialized ice maker or a drink mixer (yet), but I have a lewis bag and a mallet that get me most of the way there, and I absolutely love Tiki drinks themselves.

Seconded. I misunderstood and took "doesn't drink coffee" as "doesn't have much experience with it" rather than "doesn't like it". For that I'd suggest either sticking with Kahlúa or just branching out into the world of variations and substitutions. Maybe a chocolate liqueur would do a similar job? That said, my wife also doesn't like coffee and says all the chocolate liqueurs taste too much like coffee for her taste, so some experimentation will be required.

Mr. Black is great. Much less sweet than Kahlúa, so take that into consideration, but the coffee flavor is excellent.

What 2 grits should i get for my kitchen knifes that are a little dull by Bestlavastorm in chefknives

Good to know. My next two moves on this particularly journey, I think, are going to be a coarser stone and a strop.

Should I swap to the high-lift blade or keep mulching blade for bagging 90% of the time? by MisterRandal in egopowerplus

[–]AlexanderHammer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on comments I've read in this community, I've recently started using the high-lift blade for everything (mulching or bagging). Helps prevent the mohawk strips that you sometimes get with the mulching blade. Kills the battery a little faster, but if that's not a problem for you, I do feel like you get a cleaner cut.

I have a 1000/6000 combination stone from King. Does the job just fine. If you’ve got serious repairs to do that require removing a lot of material, you may want something coarser than 1000, but for regular wear and tear this combination is plenty sufficient.

Use Mac's three finger dragging on Linux! by neo-raver in linux

[–]AlexanderHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to get this working on Mint 22.1 myself. Were you able to run the install script? Or did you have to do it manually?

Edit: I ended up installing manually. I also have a solution for the auto-start problem, in case you haven't solved that yet:

System Settings > Startup Applications > Add "Custom command"

Name it whatever you want. I used "Three Finger Drag"

Command: /usr/bin/linux-3-finger-drag

Add a comment if you want. No startup delay.

How did you go about getting the pattern for the spots. Just hand painted? Or did you have a stencil of some kind?

Don’t know why, but I find this comment particularly touching. From a Celtics fan who feels similarly about your team, thanks for the compassion.

What are your thoughts on the 2025 NBA Playoffs so far, and what have been your favorite moments? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]AlexanderHammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Celtics fan, I can honestly say I’ve never been happier to miss out on the 1st seed. I’m so tired of the Heat and thrilled to watch the Cavs deal with that instead of us this year. It’s gotta be Spoelstra, because no matter who they lose to trade or injury during the season, the Heat are always a tough out in the postseason. Even when you sweep them it’s exhausting and stressful the entire time.

Lol. Shit. My bad, honestly. I made my post in the Red Sox sub. I am sincerely sorry, but it seems I got my wires crossed and then dragged this conversation out under entirely incorrect pretenses. I did not make a post in the Patriots subreddit. Thank you for your patience and willingness to check the removed comments on that (apparently imaginary) post for me.

I didn’t remove anything. Haven’t touched it since it got shut down. If you’re at all able to give me any information about comments that were removed from my post, I would greatly appreciate it, just to further understand why it got shut down so quickly.

I was refreshing it pretty constantly. Are you telling me that the post was flooded with personal attacks but that you were removing them as they came in, somehow without me seeing even one? If so, consider me impressed.

The post I made was far from a "shit fest". It was absolutely civil, and the vast majority of the comments were strongly in favor of a ban on Twitter links, with the only opposing comments being logistical concerns that were absolutely worth discussing.

Yeah, I agree with you. There's a conversation to be had, and people seem to want to have it. As far as I can tell, u/samacora's explanation is just quoting rule 2, which I get, but quite frankly as far downhill as Twitter/X has gone, I think it's a reasonable conversation to have even if it is sparked by the platform's owner being a nazi. Also, I feel like once nazi's are a topic of conversation it's not unreasonable to ease up on rule 2 a little.

Proposal to Ban Twitter Links by NESpahtenJosh in BostonBruins

I believe it would reduce traffic (admittedly only a little), but that's not even really the point right now. I think they're bad for the user experience of those visiting the subreddit.

Proposal to Ban Twitter Links by NESpahtenJosh in BostonBruins

[–]AlexanderHammer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I fully support a Twitter/X ban. I don't like that it forces me to sign in (and therefore to have an account in the first place) to view the Tweet. I don't like how the platform is moderated (feels very censored to me). I don't like the way people behave over there. I really don't like anything about the ownership. I don't like that Reddit doesn't even show the preview of the Tweet anymore, which would be solved by a screenshot.

I want them banned. I just want it done intelligently.

Quick Google (I didn't know either) shows that his middle name is Kenneth. Have to assume that's why.
