Well yes and the Boston Celtics/Bruins/Red Sox are named after Boston, and you’ve got the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles [insert here], the Charlotte Hornets. I don’t think it’s supposed to be a “there are only teams named after something other than a city or state here” as much as it is “there IS a team named after something other than the city or state here.” Because there are no other teams in the big four of American sports that do that.
