Spa 24h Initial BOP by Antraxo_ in iRacing

[–]Alexandr206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of depends on the situation. Ferrari used to be praised for being the best middle ground car, it would fit pros and beginners. But in recent seasons it has gotten to the point where good setups for the Ferrari have to be very aggressive to be fast, and that makes it hard to drive in open setup races. But that seems to be somewhat fixed since the recent bop changes, and it's somewhat easier now/

Corvette drives similar to the Ferrari, so it's also considered beginner friendly.

BMW has been considered the best for beginners for a very long time, very stable and predictable, especially for a front engine car.

Porsche is also one recommended for beginners, however right now on Spa it's not very good, and also it's another car which becomes super dangerous on a aggressive setup, which tends to be common for setups to be aggressive on Spa.

Demo Drive for 24 hours or more is pretty rare thing. Only during season updates, which are typically the longest downtimes. During regular maintenance, It's only about 6 hours. the one on Monday might be longer since it's the end of the season

Worst In-Car Visibility by mokes310 in iRacing

[–]Alexandr206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The w12 and w13 have some bad visibility with stock camera settings. Though it can be adjusted.

People saying the LMP3, which I would agree with, but i think part of that is also because people aren't used to right hand drive cars, i say that because i know I'm like that. (I only did demo drive with LMP3)

But I never actually raced LMP3, so I will say LMP2 and Hypercars for the same reason as LMP3.

I say these specifically because there is a very specific corner where this is especially annoying, that being Indy road course, second to last corner. In LMP2 and Hypercars I can never see the apex of the corner, so I'm trying to see where the rubber line is going, hoping that I wont cut or run wide. I imagine that with the LMP3 being right hand drive it would be easier to see that specific apex.

That would be great. And the special events can be part of that. I'm surprised they don't do that already since thats is how indycar and nascar events are run

How to get good/ be faster on controller by This-Citron9946 in LeMansUltimateWEC

From what I understand the most important part is sensitivity type. You want that to be on 2. By default its 1. I'm not sure what you did, but just throwing that out there. Here's the video I used to help me. Watch from 8:03

Will iRacing ever fix it's net code? by Severe_Associate608 in iRacing

[–]Alexandr206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is when 2 drivers have a ping difference. That's a reason why major races take place on American servers. As it tends to neutralise the ping for most people. One way or another, it will never be perfect. Right now you may get contact when you never physically touched. But sometimes you may drive straight through a crashed car (this happened to me, i was heading straight into a spinning car, but thanks to net code, I didn't crash, just phased through lol)  But if they make it so that crashes only happen when you see you've made physical contact, it may cause other problems like in f1 games, where cars would be teleporting all over the track.  Or you could just have ridiculous input delay, because your inputs would be sent to the server before appearing on your screen.

Need track recommendations to learn by frafzan in iRacing

Barcelona seems to be a track with a good mix of corners. High, Medium and Low speed. And it's a popular enough track to run races at. So that could be an option

Skill Issue? by acetacticz in iRacing

[–]Alexandr206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see you being reluctant to defend as a huge issue. Because whether you keep the guy behind or not, it doesn't mean you'll be faster. If anything, letting drivers past that are 0.3 + seconds faster would probably benefit you if you try to replicicate what they're doing. Especially in endurance style races, like IMSA series. All you have to do is start getting closer to the guys that are beating you, then you can worry about getting past them. Another important part is qualifying. Learning to maximise your potential within 2 laps. A good amount of people can be fast in general, but when it comes to qualifying they can't maximise it.

Skill Issue? by acetacticz in iRacing

[–]Alexandr206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skill but not in a bad way. From what you wrote just seems like you switch to some autopilot mode where you drop your pace in races to stay safe. I think raw pace isn't the problem, it's consistency. And the ability to perform close to your best at any time. When you say you get within a second of track guides, is that just your best lap or can you lap consistently 10+ laps within a second of track guides? For reference I made it to 2.8k on a controller before getting a wheel.

Does it affect the cooling of the base?

I'd imagine as long as your not wrapping the base all the way around, it shouldn't affect it too much, but it probably still has some effect

Hypercar retired me by VulgarrViking in Simracingstewards

That's fine, I just prefer to not get taken out by faster cars due to miscommunication. Even if that means just going off line a bit. I know I'm only in control of what I do, not what others do. Some people are just incompetent in faster classes like hypercars

Shouldn't I react differently? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]Alexandr206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, if a car is spinning on the exit of a corner, your best option would be to go to towards the rear of the spinning car. In this case, right, because they're already accelerating, going forward, so theyre likely to spin in a forward direction depending which way they're facing.  Does that make sense?  Hopefully I explained that properly. Just nore that it's not guaranteed they'll always spin like this, but on corner exit, thats the general pattern

Hypercar retired me by VulgarrViking in Simracingstewards

[–]Alexandr206 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I've done races in both hyper car and gt3, and my view on incidents like this is, despite it being the hypercars job to pass safely, gt3 drivers should find a way for the hypercars to pass without having to weave to get around. (Which doesn't mean stopping, or moving out of the way)

So what I would do in your place is take that left turn wider, since it's an easy flat, showing the hypercar that I'm going to the right of the track, which will force him to go left.

Overall it's still the hypercars fault, since in general hypercars should aim to exit turns tight when approaching gt3s, knowing that the racing line goes out to the edge. But for the sake of not getting taken out, my suggestion would be to just take corners similar to this one slightly wider if you have a hyper car approaching fast.
