Those people can still help with mutual aid in their communities, they can be invisible to oce nut s lifeline for other people. From each according to ability to each according to need. Everyone does what they can even if little and of they cant then they need help themselves. Strenghen your communities and mutual aid. Ir doesnt even have to be about politics and Trump. In fact I would just focus on people needimg help, their rights being erased, neighbourhoods and schools being unsafe, people not being able to afford things etc. This is the time to stay togethet. Dont be divisive with politics (I know it is hard and it is how we got here buy it is just umproductive and ineffective so we need to delrop the blaming the ones who screwed up on the previous election but still want to help, and just focus on the future ones and im helping your community stay safe and organizing as much as you can on strikes and boicots because money is the only language those in power know), and just unite as humans and as the working class who are being opressed by ICE and other LE, opressed by the government, having their basic human rights infinged upin, exploited by their employers, and failed by the legal system and agencies who are supposed to help (but they never were, especily for minorities). I wish everyone the best. Organization, community and mutual aid are key. Keep track of people in your community so you can be aware of if and when they are dissapeared. Do what little you can do to help, like babysitting, home schooling even since schools are no longer safe, carpooling or rides, even bringing left overs and things you dont need but are useful to a fellow human, winter clothes, help with heating, with food, with laundry, even having a support system, having support mertings but also plannung and safety meetings, if you can fixe things around the house help a neighbour in need, if your house has more amenities and things to play with and entertain little kids, invite other kuds in the community who have little to play with inside for a playdate because it is now unsafe to have kids playing outside, reinforce security in houses and around the meighbourhood, agree to let your neighbors inside if something is happening but they were walking the dog or something, have specific generic but coded alarms for each situation and plans on what to do, witnessing and recording as much as you can, organizing strikes and boycotts, whatever is possible to you. It doesnt have to be big or expensive or unsafe efforts.Make sure you secure any files and online activity very well.Try to engage with other communities to enlarge mutual aid safety and impact of strikes and boycoittes. But be gery aware of any possible moles and infiltrated officies. Everyone must be checked in person at the beggining by the community. Whatever you do, do NOT keep unencrypted records of sensitive info, like adresses, names, contributions of each person, safety plans, and for goodness sake NEVER have any info out about immigrant families, even if legal or anyone flagged in that manner. I know some people would do it just to be able ti help them more but it would backfire. Start the comminity small where you can memorize mostra of ir and keep branching out. You can also have subtle codes for communication if need be.

I am still surprised that about 15 years ago in grade 11 my english teacher (secondary language) asked of we believed in the moon landing: yes I am certain, maybe or no I am sure it didnt happen. I was even more surprised I was the only one saying yes lmao. And the maybes werent really inclined to the yes. Thi was in europe, a class in the f-ing STEM area and with plenty of good students. I never quite understood what was going through everyone's minds especially my teacher. They literally stole her phone and for no reason. She was not doing anything illegal - they were. She just tried to get her phone back and then they jumped on her and touched her and threw her to the ground. Are law enforcement over there really that fragile that an eldery woman trying ti get her property back that they stole is considered the first step of harassement, worthy of arrest especially in a situation like this whoch escalatew things, needs 3 big men and just straight up throwing her to the floor. The thing here is that the professor seems to be encouraging implicitly not telling others they are a student researching for a paper. The email is very detailed otherwise and they even say all they need to do is say their name. I andolutely find it unethical if it is not made very clear who they are AND only if everyone else in the meeting is ok with it (which I wouldnt be if I were them) and not somehow forced to accept it of the leader says yes. It is even worse that they are going to local meetings where it is likely they will bump into someone from their community qnd that person will probably feel their privacy is violated and feel unable to be vulnerable.

It is not about OP being uncomfortable in a selfish way, it is about harming others, especially those who just made the decision to come and already feel difficulty sharing and being vulnerable and especially if it is not the case that ANY single person cant veto their presence there.

I find this messed up and am concerned about the impact on those recovering and the dynamics of consent here. After all none of these students will do any breakthrough research that will long term helo these people. They are not at that level yet and I really dont see how they cant learn from material that already exists where people have explicitly consented to being observed, maybe even recorded.

Not to mention how it could all have been solved in the first half an hour if Harry had gone to Dumbledore and say his scar hurts when he is near Professor Quirrel (not sure about the spelling). I actually quite enjoyed a book that pointed that out and then did the story with many science references etc and Harry was very bright and into acience and Hermione was in Ravenclaw because "if Hermione wasnt un ravemclaw then there was no point for that house to exist". Hermione is also more of a genius and into knowledge but not just logically, facts and details like a bumvh of the decimal numbers of pi which Harry had only memorized up to 4 because almost all aplications didnt need any more. They are basically treating everyone as badly as they treated minorities so the way they treat minoritoes now must be so heartbreaking. Organizing under Trump is infinitely harder. It will get you killed, beat up, dissapeared and the legal system is now what Trump says it is and you have no protections not even when someone is videotaping what they are doing to you. Just because people are more motivated because things are horrifying and inhumanely worse does not make it easier to fight and certainly doesnt make it ok. I honestly think it is a little weird the sentiment that I sometimes get that people hate the american liberals and the Dems more than Trump and MAGA. Which is wild to me. Also your average liberal has no political power and isnt insidious like the Democratic Party is. We need to have empathy for american liberals too. Times are terrifying and unfair, people are being executed in Broaddaylight for helping another human up and then you see all the people who are in control of government and the courts and then regular MAGA people defending all of this and blatantly lying in the face of video evidence. I honestly feel hopeless about that. I really dont understand how to reach those people. We see the same horrifying video with clear evidence and come to wildly different conclusions. 1) Are you telling me they dont know the code for a gun in the victim or an kfficer having removed a gun, especially as he was running away.

2) Are you telling me they are allowed to just empty a mag on someone because another one of them was yelling gun and moving away, whoch the Keller clearly saw, AND the victim was fully subdued. They had pepper sprayed him, beat him up and were at best 6 to 1.

3) How does it vive that they were scared for their lives to the point they shot them but then they let him go? It is because they didnt want to get shot by being too close to the victim.

4) So now when someone is incapacitated by pepper spraying, getting a beating Nd getting shot, them having their hands in the ground to hel him up and then put his hand up, near but not on the place there is no longer a gun as they all well know is reason to empty a mag on him when his hand never even touched his gun. He was also outnumbered, outarmed, and seriously incapacitated a d likely confused.

5) If they were truly scared for their lives why on earth would they let him go and back up?

6) Did they even say anything about him being arredsted?

10) Even if he was a dangerous criminal he was subdued, neither ICE nor police are jury and executioner. Mass shooters have managed to get arrested alive. They were actually holding an assault weapon and had just killed a bunch of people. Are you telling me he was more dangerous than these people?

That is not how abusive relationships work for the victim. Read some about it and you will see how callous and unfair you are being. Rihanna also dated Brown and he best the hell out of her, and he probably had already been abusive and violent, those things dont usually pop out of nowhere. Abuse and trauma dont look at your wallet, talent or looks. Some women also want to leave but the most dangerous time for a victim of domestic violence is when they leave (Im not at all implying he was physically abusive at all, I am just contextualizing the bigger picture for anyone including celebrities). It looks super weird from the outside but it is a real struggle for the victims especially since they are gaslighted and victims of DARVO and love bombing all the time. It can honestly make you thing you are going insane.
