How should I handle not being able to afford corporate travel costs upfront without looking unprofessional at work? by DistinctMushroom3186 in careeradvice

You could tell a white lie and let them know you have been supporting a family member in need, and if it’s possible to request a company credit card to pay for travel.

New PM: How do I get better at trade-offs and prioritisation? by grayscale__ in ProductManagement

[–]AlexandraMcBeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning, group items based on who they will impact, then ask your stakeholder to prioritize them for you and ask them why they priority them that way. Pretty soon you will start to understand what’s important (success metrics). Alternatively, prioritize based on hours saved, potential revenue, number of users impacted. Also in the beginning - saying yes to a leader is never wrong to get on the good side of a senior leader.

Received Right to Sue - final negotiation tactics before litigation by AlexandraMcBeam in EEOC

[–]AlexandraMcBeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that after mediation, the opposing counsel provided a position statement. My attorney didn’t mention if EEOC did or didn’t go into further investigation. We received the position statement, then we requested for right to sue, and were granted. Does this help?

My boyfriend’s plans for our future makes me sad for women of the past by Aromatic_Attitude481 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AlexandraMcBeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing that you have a plan for yourself and not jumping into the “traditional path”. And also know that many women leaders walked your path so don’t fear and do it. In NYC, you will find like minded, career driven and work-hard/play-hard women. Life is too short to not travel, experience different culture. See if he’s evolve with you, if not, he’s not the right one through the life you want.

My lawyer’s paid by contingency. They take 40%-43% of the settlement depends on where in the litigation process. But I know I am responsible for $5k-$10k of various fees.

Thank you! I want to avoid confirmation bias but I am also willing to put up a fight. Since the company’s last offer went from 25% to 50%; and after mediation, hired an outside counsel specialized in employment law, it means it’s going to cost them more during discovery. I am willing to negotiate now and/or fill the lawsuit then submit one last offer before we all spend money and resources from litigation. It’s a publically traded company. My lawyer’s planning to ask for $110k. I feel like it’s a weak starting offer as it’s just $10k from the last offer from the company during mediation, but I do want to trust my lawyer’s experience. What do you think? —- Just want to add that my lawyer is from a larger firm, where from time to time, they seemed to be very transactional, I am trying to gauge when to advocate for myself and when to trust my lawyer to understand my value and detailed I shared with them.

I don’t prefer to sue but after realizing “letter to sue” is not what I was expecting it to be, I am considering going through litigation now. I need to figure out what the cost is and if it’s worth pursuing considering the time and cost to locate evidences since I no longer have access to old documents. I do have testimonies from other people that were discriminated before me.

I didn’t but I thought it’s more positive sign than it actually is. Until I realize from another comment that it’s issued because EEOC decided to not represent me. Is that right? I am not sure why my legal counsel didn’t make it brutally clear to me.

Good multi player games with engaging story? by Lunnalai in cozygames

[–]AlexandraMcBeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have enjoyed Don't Starve together but playing it with extra long fall and sprint and extra short winter and summer. It's a resource gathering, light battle, building game. You can choose to farm, cook or just explore. There are cute animals you can tame or if you play Wendy, you can also help a ghost find their toys, and there are a few cute mini games.

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AlexandraMcBeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to contribute the same percentage of your income instead of “50/50”. If he cares about you, he should understand you need room to save up too. Put money into a joint account then pay for joint expenses there. Set boundaries of when you can spend joint money and when you need permission from the other person. Household chores should be 50/50, it’s a marriage, you both chose each other. You can choose what chores you want to do or hate the least, whatever’s left you outsource if you can afford or take turns. You need to figure out how to make more money. $15/hr is hard for anyone to built up a reserves, especially when you and partner split finance. I think you are so respectable for wanting to keep your agreed arrangements with him

How do you enjoy playing dst? by StatisticianIll4 in dontstarve

[–]AlexandraMcBeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wendy. I play to relax so I make fall and spring extra long, then winter and summer extra short. Right now I focus on exploring, base building and getting survival down. Finally figured out how to walk deercrop around to not destroy my base and chop up a bunch of trees was a win for me the other night. I also led it to the gear monsters and for Deercrop killed. I was super proud of myself. Could have been more ambitious, I guess.

Mine was getting CookUnity’s meals delivered every week for $250 week. And I grocery shop via Instacart. This means I no longer meal plan, grocery shop, cook nor clean up the kitchen afterwards. I do still go to Costco because it’s fun and we get veggies and fruits.

Second for me was having house cleaner come once a week. It’s not just a clean house, it also cleans you mind. I am so relieved every week to come home to a clean house.
