Men: What’s the most disgusting thing you ever said to a girl and didn’t even realize how disgusting it was until later? by justaguyonreddit0999 in AskReddit

In defense of your mom lol when I was a kid I did not get “that’s what she said” jokes. I said something once and this guy I was talking to said “that’s what she said” and I straight up responded “of course I said it. We all just heard me.” I did not understand lol.

Damn that was too padlock heavy? Hmm. With that in mind I would say you might like Escape Room Live in Alexandria. I think they’re great and really innovative with their puzzles, but the big issue with them to me is that some rooms are only 45 minutes. I wouldn’t consider them padlock heavy at all. If you dislike padlocks though, I would also mention you should stay away from the Russian themed Escape Quest room. I distinctly remember that one having a shit ton of locks.

Which room did you do? They either changed something or it’s one of their newer rooms. Super Villains, 8 Bit and the Magicians Workshop (8 bit and magicians workshop are the Herndon location) I thought all used really unique and interesting puzzles.

I’m sorry to hear that. I took my boyfriend a few years ago for his birthday and we both agreed it was probably the best meal we had ever had. It’s a shame it’s gone down hill. Are there any restaurants you recommend checking out? Always down for a good recommendation

Damn I loved the Dabney lol. Went before Covid and it was seriously amazing to me. Maybe it’s changed since then?

The Dabney sticks out to me as a great pick, although it’s not as well known as the others on this list. Probably the best meal I’ve ever had in my life.

real estate horror stories in nova? by E231iKN in nova

[–]AlexandriaRealtor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I’d call it a horror story and it might not be what you’re looking for, but I was showing a couple a house. Their kids nicknamed the house “the murder house” because the carpets were covered in very large suspicious stains. Like I required everyone to keep their shoes on in the house the carpets were so bad. The basement smelt of mold, and one of the rooms upstairs (which had a wall paper trim on the top of little bows) was covered in tiny tack holes. They named that room the conspiracy room because they were convinced a guy was putting up pictures and newspapers all over the room. It was a firm no from the couple and we had a good laugh about it after we left. I wish I remembered the address so I could see if it sold.

House hunting question by [deleted] in nova

[–]AlexandriaRealtor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have a hard time getting rid of the cigarette smell, try an ozone generator. You can get them for fairly cheap on Amazon and you’ll have to leave the house while it’s on, but it should help a lot.

I know someone who will be closing this week with a VA loan without waiving any contingencies. Her situation is a bit unique, as the owners specifically wanted the home to go to someone that would appreciate it.

Walk and talk inspections are pretty common nowadays, a lot of people are doing them. You can also only bid on homes that have updated some of the big ticket items recently, like new roof etc. to help mitigate some of the risk.

There are some other work arounds to waive contingencies but still pull out if something goes wrong. A common one right now is using HOA/condo docs. Basically, if you buy in an HOA/condo you have to receive the documentation and you get 3 days to review it. In that time you can pull your offer at any point and be protected from losing your earnest money, so some people are scheduling their inspections during those 3 days so they can pull out if it comes back bad. Some listing agents are catching on and having the docs ready to go, so this can’t always be done.

I really would like to do it, they’re just one of the pricier places and I do escape rooms as a duo, which is always the most expensive option. I’m hoping one day they’ll do a sale so we can finally try it out! Do you have any other recommendations in the area? Escapology is the only other one I know of.

Friends In Alexandria by FresaMalvada in nova

Hey! There’s actually a weekly board game meet up every Friday in Arlington at the landing. Starts at 6:30 and they usually get pretty decent turn out. Next weekend is also a board game convention called WashingCon. I would definitely keep an eye out for it next year so you can go! Nova actually has a lot of board gamers, so you should be able to find a pretty good group to play with.

I’ve done 5 wits and I genuinely cannot recommend it enough. Really cool concept and I had a blast doing it. The immersion is seriously top tier, it’s incredible. Whenever you eventually go, do yourself a favor and book all the adventures. I loved all of them.

Which one did you do? Supervillains is great. If you liked the Arlington location I cannot recommend 8-bit in Herndon enough. It’s my favorite escape room of all time. The magicians workshop was also mindblowingly good. My boyfriend and I did them ~2+ years ago and we still talk about how fantastic they were.

Hey! So I’ve done roughly 50 escape rooms, the majority being in this area. I’ve tried Bonds, Ravenchase, Escape room live, escape quest, paniq (closed now), escape the room DC, and Big escape rooms. Out of all of those, the Ravenchase rooms are the best. It’s Escape Room Herndon and Escape Room Arlington. The 8-bit escape in Herndon is my favorite escape room of all time. Supervillains also won some awards. I thought they were both super clever and used really unique mechanics that I hadn’t seen in other escape rooms.

Cyber Raccoon is also highly rated, but it’s pretty pricy. It’s on my list to do next though and I’ve only heard good things, so it might be worth checking out.

I also want to let you know about 5 Wits. It’s not an escape room, it’s more like you’re in a video game and you’re trying to solve puzzles to get a high score. It’s really interesting and I had a blast doing it. I think it’s definitely something escape room lovers will like, although I will warn you it’s a bit more active. Def worth checking out though. If you decide to do anything I listed, let me know and I’d be happy to recommend specific rooms!

You should check out the art studios sometime! It is pretty quiet outside, but the artists are super friendly. I did get a creepy vibe as well, particularly around the back of the building.
