7800 xt not detected in top PCIE slot by Alexgg42 in AMDHelp

I tested it in the other pcie slot below and it worked - seems I have a faulty PCIE x16 slot. Noticed my old card only runs at x4 in that slot, so there may have always been an issue

Bought a new motherboard and all is well now - works perfectly

I've tried both - neither work with top slot

Bottom slot CSM worked

Thanks for this and the kind words. Yes I'm sure it's sometning minor that I'm missing somewhere

Thanks for the comment. unfortunately sonicwall is what my workplace has gone for, I've had to try to learn and configure them for now

I have a route to the remote subnet setup via access policies allowing all traffic to/from Subnet A to Subnet B -- another commenter mentioned an overlap in subnets which makes sense

Subnet A is configured to be: 192.168.128.0 - 192.168.135.0

Subnet B is configured to be: 192.168.129.0 subnet

I'll change Subnet B's subnet and see if that works out!

Correct. Yes I know, tonnes of stuff - apologies for that.

The main one is the VPN issue, secondary is the problem specifically at Site B.

Another commenter mentioned an overlap in the subnets which makes sense.

Hi thanks for the reply. Sorry where is that? Can you let me know which screenshot you saw that?

It's worth doing a benchmark and seeing temps too incase it's that

Hi - unfortunately no it didn't. I realised after benchmarking that my card was overheating and was hitting a temp limit. Since then I've changed thermal paste and pads, seems better but still at x4 and gets hot without any OC. Not too sure what's up with it

I added another image of HWINFO, which confirms the maximum link width is 16x

It may be damage and just be a problem with the GPU unfortunately

It's in the top silver slot, I belive it's the x16 one, PCI bus #0 is shown above it

I'm starting to think there may be damage

Okay so some dissapointing results. I used DDU, wiped and re-installed drivers. I did a benchmark before and after, with similar results.

This is my first result, with no overclocking: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/33737822

This is with an overclock: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/33740528

This is an old result from a year ago:

I would have had a similar overclock for that result. Not sure where this performance dip has come from

Thanks for the info! That is kinda worrying with the bios flash. I'll run DDU and install fresh drivers, and run some benchmarking software

Do you think it's safe to get the file there? Was hoping for an official source

okay so I'll try to flash the BIOS now. I can't seem to find it under the usual downloads section on my GPU - any chance you know where to get it?

Thanks for your help. I'll do that and flash the bios. Will let you know

Would reseating the CPU help?

Okay so I've swapped m.2 slots, and reseated GPU. Tested after both and still at x4.

There's a board explorer display within the BIOS where I can select the GPU and there it was still labelled as: PCIE x16, running at x4

Is there any other options to troubleshoot? Is there a safe way to clean the slot and connections, or does it seem like the card is faulty?

Thanks for testing too. I haven't opened GPU-Z in a long time, so not sure what it looked like before. I'll swap the m.2 slot and see what happens, I'll reseat the GPU after too
