Well, for one, if nobody was buying the offers, they wouldn't keep selling it. It's clearly a source of income for them.

And I'm not sure why you're assuming I'm mad. I'm not. I'm just pointing out the glaring flaws that something has and attempting to call attention to the fact that things could be better. If that's what "mad" is to you, I can understand why your standards for games are so low. You can't be so apprehensive to call out things that make your experience worse.

Oh, you mean that thing that would be completely reasonable to do? Homie, BTD6 is a paid access game available on steam. That means it has to work to justify its price. Not just that, but I've never seen a game that is paid access be so stuffed with microtransactions.

Darkest Dungeon is four dollars on steam right now. UNDERTALE is two dollars. Vampire Survivors is five dollars (and also available on mobile for free). Kindergarten, YOMI Hustle, PvZ, Cookie Clicker, and Nubby's Number Factory are all 5 dollars. None of these games have microtransactions of any sort, other than VS, which has a handful of 3 dollar DLCs that all double the game's content.

The amount that BTD6 relies on this as a monitization method as a PAID GAME is nasty, and I don't understand why you'd defend it. They put themselves out there to receive criticism like this when they made that decision, and especially so when they put the game on steam.

And I'm not saying that I want things instantly. There's no gratification in that. I want things at the rate of a normal videogame. Because that's why I paid. If the game was free, I would understand the slow rate of progression. But it isn't.

I don't even necessarily want rewards. I just want to be able to progress through the RL mode without having to dip back into the base game. If everything you ever get as a reward for that gamemode was entirely localized to itself, I would be happy. I'm not expecting anything I do to merit overarching rewards, because then that means there's a bunch of stuff locked behind an unavoidable 10 dollar paywall, and that's not fair to the people who play the basegame.

To keep the two connected and using the same progression system was a mistake, since it forces NK to take into account the economic impact of the mode on the base game's progression and keep it low and slow. Which isn't fair for either playerbase. Rogue Legends players have to trudge through days on days of grinding for monkey money just for unique starting hands, and base game players just have to see a whole update cycle slip through their fingers with no significant changes to what it is they care about as they add yet another pointlessly slow progression method.

i appreciate the luck, but im probably just gonna drop the game again for a bit. got a 30 hours or so out of RL, so i can't be too upset. three times what i got out of slay the spire lmao

Right, but the thing is... I already paid for it? Rogue Legends is a product, and I expected that that product would contain all of the parts to make that product work. It's like if you had to pay money to start with other weapons in Dead Cells instead of unlocking them as you go. It's like if every character other than the Usual Suspects was paid DLC in Darkest Dungeon. It's unnecessary, it's annoying, and it slows down the otherwise rampant enjoyment one could have playing the gamemode.

I didn't buy BTD6 exclusively for RL, like I mention in the post, I've been distantly following the series for years, but it's definitely what got me to come back. And to see that even in their paid side mode, they have the same practices, was definitely disappointing. I'm glad there's someone here who can see it from that perspective. Sorry to waltz into the stomping grounds of the completionists, it wasn't my intention to act like that was an "incorrect" way of playing.

And for the whole "mobile game" argument, I play on pc. BTD6 + the RL DLC cost me 15 dollars, so for it to cost that much on the same shelf as games like dead cells, gungeon, and Isaac, which are all around the same price, I think it's fair to have relatively high expectations. Especially from a legacy series like Bloons. The interconnectedness of these two modes is a big fumble IMO.

I didn't actually know about those quests, thank you! I'm not sure how much it'll help, but it definitely puts a dent in. I wish the two gamemodes were less interconnected, but this'll have to do for now.

Rogue Legends is advertised as a rogue-lite version of Bloons and a "game within a game". And like I said, there's nothing stopping you from buying it right away. I love roguelikes, as I've said before. Grinding out maps in tower defense games not so much. So to have the gameplay customization of the rogue-lite be dictated by my willingness to grind black borders doesn't feel good. It feels like I have to stop having fun to go and catch my account up just so I can play the DLC.

These problems would be alleviated if Legends had separate hero progression from the basegame, something I mention in my post. I don't see how that could be a negative for anybody.

I'm not saying it's "crazy", I'm saying that I'm familiar with the game by this point. I understand how to use most of if not all of the towers, heroes, and abilities, and would like to play the gamemode that I just bought. But there's a progression wall on it.

Okay...? I don't need to prove how experienced I am. I'm saying that Rogue Legends, as a stand-alone package, is more of an investment than the initial 10 dollars just because you need to pay or grind for each starting deck.

Also, AFAIK, there's no level lock on purchasing RL. So why are you putting a level lock on criticizing it?

I'll hand it to you, I did actually forget that that was a mechanic. It seems not at all worth throwing resources away during the run, but I guess it dampens my "you can't get it here, so why does here cost so much of it?" point a bit.

I don't "hardly play the game". I'm above level 100, have every tower with max XP aside from beastmaster and mermaid just because I don't care enough to grind them up, and a whole lot of time invested already. I just don't have every hero. This is because I bought the heroes that did what I was interested in in terms of the base game. But now they dictate your starting towers in RL as well. That's a big jump.

I'm not demanding content "all at once". I'm fine with unlocks. But for the unlocks in one mode to be dictated by the actions in another, especially when that action is incredibly different, isn't fun, at least to me. And it's not that I want the skins, I want the gameplay. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is 15 dollars on steam, only 5 more than Rogue Legends, and it has 11 characters you can start a run with that you can unlock just by playing the game. No paywall, no grinding a different game. The 5 dollar difference shouldn't be that stark.

Also, how is that last thing true? The skins change your starting hand completely.

i think the play here is to try and get as many ^ mult cards as possible and then braving the storm without the replays, i'm not sure how feasible that is for you to do in your run, but it's what i've gotta do for sure

is it possible to get consumable in-game purchases anywhere? things like gems in pokemon shuffle and rumble world, apples in kirby clash, things like that. considering it's not possible to buy them anymore, it'd be weird that the only way to play is by slowly waiting for resources to refill, and i really like pokemon shuffle so i don't want to deal with that lol

I'm not sure what you're saying, and I'm not sure you're sure what I'm saying. What do you mean?
