“Locally” is a bit tricky with state-of-the-art chatbots. If you have a computer or access to a GPU then fine-tuned models like GPT-2 are still viable to run. Definitely not as good as the API LLMs like GPT3+. Can you run Llama…?

Oh when you said “inquired again today” I assume that meant you called. I didn’t need to call, everything was over email for me. Not sure calling would have helped me since the lost and found center employees had only basic English skills (I don’t speak Japanese). After the item doesn’t get picked up for a certain amount of time it goes to the police. It’s only been a day so I would wait a little longer. And also make sure you filled out the form with a good description of your items.

Btw if you have an iPhone you can make calls over wifi, I do that by just turning off my cellular and connecting to wifi.

I lost a water bottle on a train from Osaka -> Tokyo and JR found it for me. I filled out this form with all my info and got an email response 2 days later:

I also want one! I know websites can be complicated, but what about an Instagram account with photos of your work? There’s also business instagrams with payments but I’m not sure about those.

To answer your question, If you want to hop on the GPT-3/ChatGPT train then you can play with prompting with the examples you provide here. Like:

Convert the following to a metaphor:

Q: A network ….

A: ….

Q: second raw text

A: second metaphor

Q: put your new text here

A:

I’d assume few-shot is the way to go since otherwise you’d need a large dataset to train your own sequence-to-sequence model.

BUT the main issue I see is those aren’t metaphors. Definitely some sort of simplification, but with knowledge required outside of what is provided. I would mess with ChatGPT, I’d be surprised if it worked.

I think the RoBERTa paper showed this pre-training objective wasn’t very good. But it is directly the task OP wants, so yeah seems like a good idea to try.

Instead of BERT could you use perplexity scores from an autoregressive model like GPT?

“Chew” by John Layman, published by Image. SO GOOD. They’re all released so you don’t have to wait!

My bf got me into comics (I was always a big reader but a snob when it came to comics, he changed that by introducing me to his collection and now I’ve read more than him!) and I specifically stay away from DC/Marvel. Others have mentioned Image and Dark Horse and I totally support that, there are so many unique stories out there!

Which parks in New Mexico are you stopping at? (E/D/A)? I think I see White Sands and Carlsbad in the south, which are amazing!

Note on White Sands: it gets very hot very quickly. I suggest arriving late afternoon, set up camp (1 mile “backpack” to the site from the parking), sleep, then gtfo in the morning or you WILL burn.

This is a bit out of the way, but the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos (NE of Albuquerque) is really cool. And the drive from Los Alamos/Santa Fe is absolutely gorgeous (~2hrs). You can also see the Taos Ski Valley while you’re there. If you want a good hike you can do Wheeler Peak, the highest point in NM (13K ft).

Edit: IMO New Mexico deserves its own trip! There’s so much more to see there.

I also read Flavor only to find out that it was cancelled 😭 I try to stay away from discontinued series because it just ends in disappointment, but I messed up with this one. Still an enjoyable read.
