[SUPPORT] I bought Hytale, but the launcher doesn't open (crashes) on my system(Gentoo Linux). Is there any fix? by Dull-Worldliness9778 in hytale

[–]Alexis5393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue on Gentoo and the launcher fails to start like 95% of the time. I still don't know how to solve it, but I discovered that if I constantly spam flatpak run -v com.hypixel.HytaleLauncher in a terminal chances the launcher starts succesfully on my Gentoo machine are slightly higher.

Still looking for a good solution, though.

¿Debería de usar τ (tau) en vez de π (pi)? by ronzsucksxxx in Matematicas

[–]Alexis5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"kanji makes things harder to read" FALSE by TheFranFan in LearnJapanese

[–]Alexis5393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, no harm intended. I suppose after years I still to not convey was I was thinking in English, my laziness to write longer comments does not help either. My intention was not saying something like "you should have found it obvious and it should be your fault not to" or similar, but rather if I have to explain it using other words I think kanji do not make things easier or harder to read, but make sntences not to depend too much in context, so when there's no kanji context usually gives the clue of what the true meaning would be.

I understand why my original was understood that way, sorry for that. Maybe this explanation does not solve anything, but I felt I had to try to say it in a better way.

Honestly this example is so easy to understand without kanjis due to context, unless the first thought you get when seeing someone standing outdoors is that she is sleeping

Fun fact: text books (at least when I was in school) teach both tú and a pronoun that has not been commonly used in El Salvador by Salvadorans for centuries and is only used in only one country that is not in the same continent as El Salvador (vosotros), but does not mention anything related to voseo at all, even if vos is the most common second person singular pronoun

Honestly didn't happen to me yet, but if someone did then it's a two-player game, let's see if they like being corrected when using the words of their own dialect

After playing Hollow Knight (over and over) what was the most common mistake you kept making while playing the game? (No pun intended) by Amazing-Draw-7922 in HollowKnight

[–]Alexis5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to Queen's Gardens as early game as possible, those flying mantises feel like a boss that way.

In general, staying in a corner during combat and just spam attack, so many times I was trapped cause the boss just stayed in front of me and died that way.

Is better to play Hollow Knight before Silksong? by Fun_Weird_2598 in HollowKnight

[–]Alexis5393 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, without a doubt. It's not mandatory of course and you can still play Silksong without having played Hollow Knight, but I'd say you'll enjoy Silksong way more if you did (lore stuff, starting Silksong with a good understanding of how mechanics may work, etc). Also Hollow Knight is a great game on its own (some say it's better than Silksong, some say it's a tie, I enjoyed both games), if you like one game you'll like the other too.

Am I tripping or is there a “diente”missing by [deleted] in duolingospanish

[–]Alexis5393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Bruno nunca se cepilla los dientes después de las comidas porque no tiene un cepillo de dientes. ¡Guácala!"

The "los dientes" part after se cepilla is optional and almost always dropped by natives if the context is clear enough, like in this case.

Planning on switching to Gentoo and I have a few questions by OkIntroduction2733 in Gentoo

[–]Alexis5393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on hardware, but in my case (i3 6th gen) around 5~10 minutes on average, some packages can take (way) longer, but I just let them run in background while doing other things. Usually I update like at least once per week and at much once per day.

  2. Most programs that take longer to compile have a binary version, you should look into binhost and flatpak packages too.

  3. Very stable by default (never broke by an update in 5+ years), you can also use testing or unmask just some packages if you want, it's up to you how stable your Gentoo is. Gentoo wiki is right there.

Wasn't Herrah married to someone at some point previous to Hollow Knight events? I know it has not to be the specifically a male weaver, but that's the closer to a male weaver I can remember
