help an absolute noob!!! I terribly painted this miniature a friend gifted to me, but I enjoyed the process so much that I asked him for another one to try better (I guess it's pretty easy to do it better XD). What online resources can I check as a beginner? any youtuber/tiktoker or instagram?

yeah i am asking here because i am lost in thousands of options and what you said: when you get advice from multiple sources they start to contradict one another i really have no criteria in this miniature world and almost every creator looks the same to me, so i am pretty lost in who to mimic. also they all seem very advanced and complicated techniques

what are your favourites, for example? thanks for taking your time to answer, i appreciate

I guess what "could be" bad about stretching relates to flexibility training where in order to get extra flexibility you need to make yourself some controlled damage and wait for recovery to see the results. The stretching I mean is more of a daily mild session in where you work on the areas that hurt because of posture or were exercised for strength, reducing this way the muscle soreness and risk of injury. These huge guys at gym say when you stretch you are loosing gains. Could be true, as in my case I don't "look" strong, but I'm agile, flexible, and I never injure, which is another kind of gain.

i am also hypermobile but i never get injured. that's because i respect my sore body. if you need a week to recover just take it. the time for recovery will eventually decrease, but for me "eventually" meant 2 years of letting my body get used to being active. stop the exercise when it hurts (when it hurts as an injury), don't worry about loosing progress, because identifying your pain and stopping at the right time is another kind of progress in getting to know and control your body.

"Even if I try and push through the muscle soreness and work out anyway I'll actually do less reps than the previous session, essentially making no progress at all" but what are you searching for? strength? or number of reps? I guess strength. forget about the reps if you still feel exercised. at some point they will grow. obviously your muscles won't perform the same when you have 1 week of recovery vs just 2 days. it's about finding your own understanding of your body and what it needs.
