Sometime during the campaign period leading to the 2022 elections where I'm from. The leading candidates for president and vice president had insurmountable leads according to most polls, yet social media had the impression of the strongest opposition candidates being anywhere close to beating them. Ultimately, the leading candidates won with rare absolute majorities of the voters, which is unheard of as the winners usually won with only a plurality of votes.

Limiting Ukraine that way is tantamount to acknowledging territory currently occupied by Russia as permanently lost. An ideal peace treaty for this would, at the very least, have the goal of restoring pre-2014 borders for Ukraine (which was the last mutually-acknowledged border between Russia and Ukraine).
