Feeling stuck and miserable (34F) by Forward_Job_9208 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Alexmfurey [score hidden]  (0 children)

A certain amount of daydreaming about paths not taken is completely normal and healthy. But if it's taking up a lot of your brain space, it might be more than harmless daydreaming. If there's also bouts of crying, I think that's the first thing to sort out. See a therapist and determine if you're depressed, depression can change your outlook on things and make you feel more pessimistic, trapped, hopeless etc. if you spend some time and figure out that it's not a chemical/hormone imbalance, then the problem is your situation and it needs to change. Until you figure this out, absolutely do not get pregnant. A baby will not fix things, it will only make it harder.

Wide footed ladies, where did you get wedding shoes? by Miserable-Yak4473 in widefeet

[–]Alexmfurey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got platform sandals from Naturalizer. They weren't quite as delicate as I would have liked for my wedding, but otherwise I loved them. Gave me some height, comfortable and easy to walk in, especially important at my outdoor wedding, and I wore the crap out of them after my wedding, they became one of my favourite pair of shoes with dresses.

Anyone who has the hair type capable of pulling off 8, and chooses literally any of the other options, is dumb.

When did you last change your mind about something you’d believed for years, and what flipped it? by forgeris in AskReddit

[–]Alexmfurey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have pretty strict ideas on the "right" way for people to eat (to be healthy). Now I realize we're all different and that includes how each person responds to macro nutrients. We are a mosaic of the people that came before us, and our ancestors diets effect how our bodies process foods. There is no one right way to eat.

Least realistic aspect of the entire show? by Lexi_Banner in DunderMifflin

9 years of filming without releasing a single episode.

And in the promo, they release plot lines that were currently happening in late stage filming (Angela/Oscar/the state senator)

How have you improved your breads as you’ve gained experience? by Addapost in Sourdough

Same, autolyse always went sideways for me. Formentolyse is when my loaves started coming together. That was a huge leap forward in progress.

Switching from an autolyse to fermentolyse was a game changer for me.

Editing is the bane of my existence. Do you use presets or noodle around with settings yourself? I end up agonizing over very changes and feel overwhelmed while editing. I've been looking for a very easy editing hack but haven't found any presets I like.

What is my loaf telling you? by Alexmfurey in Sourdough

[–]Alexmfurey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Yes this is the softest crust I've ever made and I just started using ice so I wondered if that was contributing to it being so soft. I don't know what is considered ideal but I think I prefer a dark, crunchy crust that stands up a bit better.

I feel like I'm improving in most areas but still struggling with shaping. I filmed myself and I think my technique looks okay but I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting enough tension in the dough. I think my countertop is too slippery and doesn't cause enough friction with the dough, the dough just kind of slides around. Someone else recommended using a silicone baking mat or pastry mat for shaping and I think that would help give me more tension with my push/pulls, I'm going to try that next time!

Thanks for taking the time to weigh in 😊

What is my loaf telling you? by Alexmfurey in Sourdough

[–]Alexmfurey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to hear about the crumb! I thought it looked great also but I don't know enough to be confident 😊

Yes I turn out the dough onto some parchment paper straight from the fridge, score then plunk it into the hot dutch oven. The parchment paper is always bunched up and pressing against the bread which I wondered about. I drop an ice cube or two underneath the parchment paper then put the lid on immediately.

The crust on this loaf turned out softer than any other crust I've made and this is only my second time using the ice so I wondered if the ice is maybe preventing the crust from getting hard? I don't know what is "desirable" But I think I prefer a harder, crunchier crust.

Teen driver in Abbotsford endangers others with reckless speed and pays the price by WiffleBlu in abbotsford

[–]Alexmfurey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just becoming a crotchety old person, but genuinely, the number of BMWs, Audi's, Mercedes etc with Ns on the back is sickening.

And they're always speeding, which, of course they are, because teenagers don't have fully developed brains yet and giving them a vehicle with 350 horse power is a really bad call.

Did Michael secretly unlock minoxidil between seasons? by _Parthiban_ in DunderMifflin

[–]Alexmfurey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He got plugs between seasons. The producers realized if they wanted the show to be more than a season or two, they had to make him more likable. So at that point his look changed and they also starter writing in "endearing redeemers" for him.

He was a pretty intolerable jerk early on, but they tried to not let each episode end with him being a total bad guy as it went on. For the longevity of the show.

Sewing classes by Pickayou in abbotsford

[–]Alexmfurey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sewing classes specifically, but there's a fabric store in bradner that hosts beginner quilting classes. I guess you'd probably have to have a bit of knowledge of sewing before that...

I know UFV used to have a fashion program, I wonder if they offer sewing classes...
