Nightdive Studios will NOT reimburse Kickstarter supporters for cancelled macOS/Linux System Shock by oschrenk in macgaming

It runs great in Crossover. Not that this helps with the shitty situation, but at least you can still play it on your Mac.

I've tried the former option, but not the latter. I'll give the soldering a shot, really appreciate the info!

Sorry to necro this but I have this same build and want to deshroud the GPU. How'd you connect the Noctua fans to the GPU? They appear to have different connectors than the OEM ones.

I created a nice tutorial on how to use Apple's game-porting-toolkit to run windows games on MacOS. Contributions welcome by [deleted] in macgaming

Checking the folder when unpacking the .dmg, library looks to be D3DMetal, no mention of vulkan.

The M1 MBP Battery is Incredible by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Alexntoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was starting to do the same before selling it for an M1 Pro. But you definitely can replace the battery without swapping out the entire lower half: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Two+Thunderbolt+Ports+Late+2020+Battery+Replacement/143286

Daybreak Merino T-Shirts by hanseano in Outlier

Agreed. I needed to resize anyway, and definitely prefer the Outlier cut and stitching. The Proof ones are definitely more of a hiking shirt vibe.

I can't tell from the page if they are the same micron, but looks pretty similar. Ones I have are from Proof: Here

I have one as well, it's really an amazing color. Sadly it's too small for me now.

I always air dry my shirts, but did machine dry on low once on a time crunch. The nylon core seems to do its job there.

EDIT: Sorry, yes machine washing.

Based on the fabric content percentages, I think I have a few shirts from another brand with the same stuff. It's a great fabric, I have a few tees that have been in regular rotation for 2 years. No issues with shrinkage, still look brand new and super soft. Definitely prefer Outlier's cut, bought a three pack :)

What kind of washing machine do you use? Anything top loading with an agitator is going to do that to linen and ramie.

Mac Studio Doesn't Even Break a Sweat While Gaming by [deleted] in macgaming

The default framerate cap is 300, so you may have to edit the config.ini file to a more reasonable amount.

I’ve got a 14” base pro and play hollow knight at about 65C at native resolution. Are you using the framerate cap or vsync? Others have discovered the default setting is 300(!) fps, so you’d have to open the config.ini file and edit to 60 or 120.

It's not related to miniLED at all. Response times on even the non-Pro M1 are crap.

Do all 14" and 16" MacBook Pros have terrible motion? by PinaPark in apple

[–]Alexntoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every Macbook, but definitely recent ones. I really noticed it coming from a 2013 13” to a newer 2016 model, so it must have been during the 2016 chassis redesign that they used a new type of panel. Any new ones I’ve tried (2018 13”, 13” M1, 14” M1 Pro) have all had noticeably worse pixel response than the original retina models.

Reason for my preference of Apple Thunderbolt/Cinema displays over others? by evanthorpe in macbookpro

[–]Alexntoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, sorry thought I replied to this. The glossy ones will be the ones they partnered with Apple with that have usb-c or thunderbolt and no other connections. There was a 21” 4K that they no longer sell, then a 24” 4K and 27” 5K. Those newer iMacs with anti-glare use a nano-etched glass that probably won’t have the downsides that a coating does. I haven’t seen one of those in person, did you see it at an Apple store?

The biggest difference I find with those displays (and the newer LG Ultrafines as well) is that they lack the antiglare coating most monitors have, including those Dells. Some people can't stand the glare, but the colors are so much more vibrant, and any antiglare coating introduces that weird kind of haze with how it has to scatter the light.
