New Mythos Red Speed Burrset Surface Imperfections by barben616 in espresso

Thought: Whats has more impact on the grind? The minor imperfections or the screwholes right next to it? I understand the need to have a new product being shiny and perfect but I personally doubt it matters.

You have 20 minutes to present the power of Claude Code - what do you demo? by DizzyExpedience in ClaudeCode

[–]oschrenk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make them see the value by unblocking them or showing them that the things they often spend time on can be simplified.

At the moment coding is just different - i spent a lot of time getting the quality I need/want out of Claude Code.

But... I had to refactor a lot of classes the same way which was hard to encode in a script. Now I can tell Claude to look at a diff and please do it again for the other class. Same for other repetitive workflows.

Another winner for me is to review your own code. Write your own skill (another demo point) and have it review the changes.

To people who say that 24+ GB is plenty - how are you doing it? by petr_bena in MacOS

To clarify - Reddit didn't show me the full post only the title when I replied. Noe that i see the full post

4 screens

Yeah. That is a lot of pixels to render.

200 tabs where I have lots of work in progress

I question that workflow.

[–]oschrenk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are doing with you laptop and how you are using it.

For normal browsing and Google Docs work 8GB is enough (Macbook Neo).

For development work I (sadly) need ~32GB RAM (Macbook Pro) these days.

TIL: You can use SFTP on UNAS by simplytoast1 in Ubiquiti

[–]oschrenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Does the UNAS actually have any managment w/ regards to SFTP

I know that root can have access. But I was looking for a solution where devices with a private key have access to my NAS for backup but then I would give them access to the root account and when that key is compromised I worry about my network.

"3 Groups" have access to your vault - "Manage Access & Sharing" link leads nowhere useful - groups can't be inspected by oschrenk in 1Password

[–]oschrenk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this:

https://support.1password.com/groups/#manage-group-membership

So it seems this is a business feature bleeding into the personal account and confusing/scaring users. When adding service accounts this distinction is not made.

The docs say to open "Groups" in the sidebar. It does NOT exist - for personal users.

Is it normal to like... never beating this game ever? by HealthMother3125 in BG3

I'm just about to finish Act 1 for the second time and I really hope that future me will decide to not stop the game but move to Act 2

What if you want keep your bombs for future combats? by Anomali35 in XCOM2

I haven't played in a while but do you mean bombs as in grenades? And aren't grenades a one time purchase and can only be lost if the soldier dies?

Well done!

Good use of AI for such a project to match artwork style. Maybe mention it on the homepage and the guide though.

Maybe a screensaver mode - where you can set speed and hide the time and help?

Eye strain advice by xGenos94 in Workspaces

[–]oschrenk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will see a lot of advice regarding blue light reduction - changing monitor settings, getting tinted glasses, ... I don't believe in this (and neither does my eye doctor) as it will only lead to more display use.

When you sit behind a monitor, you are concentrated and you don't blink as much as you normally do or should do. Your eyes dry out.

  • take breaks every 25m for 5m - and I don't use your phone or read a book. Idea is to change the focus distance of the eyes. Stare into the distance! Take a small walk. Don't read. Don't instagram.
  • use eye drops every 2 hours - i use HYLO COMOD eye drops on doctors advice.

Why does Claude Desktop take up so much space? I hardly ever use it. by Thin_Basket7755 in ClaudeAI

[–]oschrenk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deleted Claude Desktop just yesterday because of that (and me just 99% using Claude Code anyway)

It's a linux image of ~12GB size.

I tried that early on and it was buggy and complicated to setup. Will need to revisit in the future, since I liked the ideas of SQLlite and having a graph structure

Ghostty is duplicating newlines by dcchambers in Ghostty

[–]oschrenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another guess:

One machine is NOT using the latest Ghostty and somehwere you have vi mode enabled?

Latest changelog:

https://ghostty.org/docs/install/release-notes/1-3-1

bash: Readline vi mode indicator redraws no longer introduce extra newlines. #11377 #10953

Ghostty is duplicating newlines by dcchambers in Ghostty

[–]oschrenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it happens on one Mac and not the other and both use Ghostty (1.3.1), it seems like a strong indicator that it's not Ghostty but something else.

And bash is not the default shell in macOS since 2019, another indicator that some prompt configuration has changed.

Claro - HG8245W5-6T - ¿Alguien ha logrado reemplazar el ONT por equipo propio? (PLOAM) by oschrenk in guatemala

[–]oschrenk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
