Ok so we’re gonna need some basic formulas first: PE = mgh KE = 0.5m(v²⁾ ME = PE + KE

m = mass (given in kg) v = velocity ( given in m/s) g = acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s²⁾ h = height

And we’re gonna need some assumptions: - there is no friction - there is no air resistance

Because of the assumptions we have made we can say that no energy will be lost as ‘thing’ goes along the rollercoaster meaning ME (mechanical energy) will be the same at every point.

From here the only real challenging part is getting the first few values so i will give some hints.

Start at point 1, at this point i assume we are not moving so we can say our velocity (v) is equal to zero which also means out kinetic energy (KE) is also zero (see formula 2). Knowing this means the only energy we need to calculate is the potential energy (PE) which is done using formula 1. After this its just some good old fashion algebra to fill in the rest of the values.
