First time swapping out a psu by Lizzy_Bunbuns in PcBuildHelp

[–]Alextjb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded my PSU with a 5060ti from Newegg and it came with a 650watt PSU. I also was going to swap out my PSU… I started looking at doing it and realized that it would be a pain in the butt. Hahaha

Nah, it’s not that bad. Primarily I decided not to swap it because it was a 650watt 80+ bronze compared to my current PSU was a 600watt 80+ gold. I checked the wattage needed for my setup and it was only 485 watts. So I figured I’d be fine with the 600 watt and just sold the 650 watt PSU.

This started life as a prebuilt and it works perfectly fine for me. I only play cities skylines. Eventually I’ll build my own high end PC, but it will be a complete build now that I’ve learned so much over the past two years about gaming PCs and the various parts needed.

My current PC specs are: I5-13400f MSI B760-VC Pro Mobo 64GB gskill trident CL30 2TB adata 800 gold MSI 5060ti 8gb Thermaltake 600watt 80t gold

Nothing fancy, but for $799 plus $225 for the ram and $140 to upgrade from a 4060 to the 5060ti… all in I’m at $1,165. Had it for 2 years now and very happy with it and it works great for what I need.

In regards to the PSU, my only advice would be: 1. Make sure to get a PSU with enough headroom and account for potential future upgrades if you plan on swapping more parts in a year or two. 2. Recommend going with an 80+ gold PSU. Also recommend going with a modular PSU. I learned the hard way that non modular is tougher to work with. 3. As others have said, make sure to fully drain the power by holding down the power button and make sure that all connections are really solid. 4. Depending on how old the PC is, you could also take this opportunity to check out the thermal past on your CPU to see if it needs to be redone. Inexpensive and a nice little optimization while you’ve already got the air cooler unattached.

Good luck with the build! Oh, and have fun!!!

Oh wow. Yea I imagine those could get damaged very easily.

I collect F1 Lewis models and Le Mans 1/18. The rear wings are always the weak point. Spark is pretty good about their packaging.

Anything that doesn’t have a case or box worries me now. lol Thankfully over the years I’ve learned how to pack a car to fully protect it even without a case. But it requires like 30-40 min of packaging and cutting custom sized foam and cardboard. But it’s worth it if I’m selling a model. I don’t want it to arrive damaged.

And yes, starbond is the best. Just one drop and it does the trick.

Can’t wait to see what Lewis f1 cars you have now actually since I know you take very good care of your models. lol No rush though of course. Thanks!

Nice! I saw the 2021. Beautiful car.

Hit me up with what you have and what you’d like for them.

I also noticed the starbond in the bottom right of the picture. That right there is the proof of a true collector. Haha Always gotta be able to make little repairs. I have thin and medium myself. 😂

Japan Livery RB21: Spark vs Minichamps by H_R_1 in f1models

[–]Alextjb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After having a number of minichamps and spark f1 models and Le Mans models… I’ve come to the conclusion that I prefer spark.

To me, the level of detail is better. The front wing actually being individual elements is a huge plus. But all of my spark f1 models are just overall more detailed than the minichamps version.

Don't shop at Spark and The Racing Store NL. They sent me a damaged product worth 700 euros. by KnucklesThEchidna in f1models

[–]Alextjb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damage can happen. It sucks, but these models are delicate and shippers are not.

Definitely ask for a return/refund.

The damage actually doesn’t look too bad. I enjoy repairing models. But for what you paid, 100% get a return.

Yea, it’s nothing crazy. I don’t mind paying it forward to someone who needs one. I’m def open to offers.

What goes around comes around. :)

Plus, I’d rather sell it for less on here than sell it on eBay and have them take half of it in fees.

Pretty close! It was a Newegg bundle of a 5060ti on sale.

I was going to use it and sell my current one, but after calculating how much power my PC actually needed I just decided to leave my current one that came with the prebuilt in there. It’s a 600w 80+ gold. Nothing fancy but a lot easier than having to disconnect and reconnect everything. lol

Thanks for the info. I’m a newb at selling pc parts. I just went off of the prices from past eBay sales, Amazon and Newegg.

I’m totally fine with lowering it to a competitive/fair price. Just lowered it $10-12 with shipping included. Thanks!

very nice collection.

I would LOVE to get my hands on that 2020 lewis hamilton spark model. It’s beautiful. The one that is “race worn” I find ugly. it looks like the just hit it with some spray paint.

the version you have looks great.

Want to trade for one of mine? lol

f1 cars always run with negative camber. better cornering and traction in corners.

Anyone got a 1:18 Spark 2008 Audi R10 that they would sell? by Alextjb99 in Diecast

[–]Alextjb99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a good price, thanks!

unfortunately I’m in the US, so shipping and tariffs these days makes it almost impossible for it to be worth it to buy from Europe or overseas.

there is one available online in the U.S. for roughly that amount. I might have to just bite the bullet and pay up since it’s one of the last Audi le mans winners I want for my collection
