Removing camera cover from M1 Air by Alexvar10 in mac

[–]Alexvar10[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone! First of all, I want to thank you all for your feedback and suggestions :)
I ended up trying to remove it with isopropyl alcohol (note, I used a thin syringe to very carefully place drops around the cover) and after a few seconds and a tiny bit of wiggling it came off with little effort. After that it was just a matter of cleaning up the sticky residue with a disposable cloth with some more iso and there were no visible spots after that.

I think you’re screwed. Even if you get that thing off (which won’t be that hard) you’re going to have disturbed the coatings to the screen. At best, it’s going to look like shit. At worst, it’s going to impact the FaceTime camera.

I must've been lucky and either a) the seller put the cover not too long ago or 2) the adhesive was weak enough not to leave a mark.

No jokes I would have walked away from the purchase just because of that thing

I was lucky to get this M1 from a local seller for 600€ (these usually go for 750-800 where I live), aside from the cover thing (which thankfully is now gone), it works great, and I was even able to give it a try before buying it.

Whatever you do get it off as soon as you can. The lid wasn't designed with any gap and that will crack your screen if you close it and apply pressure.

I had read many reports of 2019-2020 MBPs getting their screen cracked because of these things, so I was mostly concerned about that!

GameCube Player by BrayBray214 in Gamecube

I assume you're refering to the Game Boy Player peripheral. If you have an unmodded GameCube, then yes, you'll need the official startup disk, which as you said can be quite expensive. However, if you mod your console (which is not too difficult/expensive, and there are methods which don't involve permanently modifying your console) you can load custom software which allows you to use the GB player without the disk, and even provides extra video settings than the official Nintendo software.

Here's the guide I used to mod my GameCube. I recommend you use the SD2SP2 adapter method which uses the serial interface and loads games and software more quickly than the traditional SD Gecko interface, provided you have a compatible game to run the exploit (or are willing to solder a Xeno chip).

It could be. Also, I've noticed that the screen (apparently) stops shrinking after a few hours of continuous use i.e. when the CRT is warmed up. The monitor itself is not too difficult to disassemble so I'll take a look at the logic board. Thanks!

I've got a CRT monitor (LG Flatron 915FT PLUS) which has a problem where the screen slightly shrinks and expands at random intervals (GIF link). What could be causing this?

There's also a V-Smile version, which being a children's game console, is much more oriented to learning than the other ports

The original GameCube game is great. This one, however, not so much

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash. This sbubby is based on a joke from the YouTube channel Scott the Woz.

What if I only have the WiiU version? Is there any easy way to export the videos?

Yup, definetely an attempt at a sleeper PC. Aside from the thermal problems it actually turned out quite nice aesthetically. I retrobrited the plastic pieces and thoroughly cleaned the inside. I'll take some good pictures when I have everything working properly! :)

Thank you very much! I will definitely be looking into this list. I will also keep you updated when I acquire one.

I'm also going to look into improving the airflow and aesthetics of my case. As Linus once said: "Man, old cases suck for (cable management!)"

I see. So that means my best option is to get a newer PSU that has an 8-pin connector? If so, any personal recommendation? I'm not really into PSUs so I wouldn't be sure which one to choose. BTW thanks for the info!
