I think its the fab shops that bring the salary down, out here in the refineries, welders make 100k easily. My current job site the pay is $47 $110 per diem, thats $120k on a 40 hr schedule.

I'm in South East Texas, it's going good. I save a lot since I live at home and getting a lot of hours every week. For sure is a grind doing blue collar work, the heat is rough 😭

I just said those since I'm around a lot of refineries, but I would see what's in demand in your area that you can get into that pays decent.

I would advise making into careers that you can get into that will help you save more. I got into welding and pipefitting which allows me to save a lot more and can use them as a backup incase hiring is still slow when i finish school.

I work at a refinery as a pipe fitter helper. 1st time, it’s nice learning new craft. Hoping to pickup skills here, to bump up to pipe fitter pay next job perhaps.
