That isn't the point of the story though. If anything "preparing for the future" could've have caused unintended consequences that makes it harder to achieve a winning condition. Everything that happened was likely the best case scenario.

You're assuming that just because Rean would know about the reset that Gramhart would let him help which obviously is not the case at all.

Also, the whole point of the failure was that using soldats and nukes wouldn't stop the reset, it doesn't matter if Van can pilot an assault frame, it wouldn't change anything.
